Speed ball of a week
I don't know where this week has gone. I was sitting her trying to think about what we did this week and it has just kind of flown past us with the normal routine stuff. Well, not completely, but I will get there.
I have found myself ponder a great deal on being a Defender of Family, Marriage, and such. It is kind of funny how things work out that way. You see, this weeks lesson in Priesthood was on Family. This months theme in YM/YW Come Follow Me, is Family. There are some awesome articles in the Ensign and New ERA about Family. This weekend, we had the opportunity to be with Family as we participated in a baptism of special young lady who has chosen to be part of Christ's Family.
As I have prepared to participate in for the above mentioned classes or discussed them with others in the family who were also preparing to participate at various levels of above mentioned classes or reading from the magazines, I could not help but what think about what it all means to be part of a Family and how that affects each of us, not matter what level of family participation we are choosing to participate.
Yeah, that was a weird sentence, if you can call it that, but that is how it came out in my head. Doesn't make a great deal of sense, but it is what it is.
Anyway, back to what it all kind of means. I was reading in Alma 45 and this is where my thoughts have gone.
Instead of Alma speaking to Helaman, put yourself in the conversation with:
"Believest thou the words which I spake unto thee concerning those records which have been kept?"
This question applies to all of us. We all have/will have the opportunity to read, study, ponder, receive the words of God, from him directly or through the records which have been kept. Helaman had them, we have them; they may look a little different, but they all come from the same place and we need to decided whether we believe them.
"Believest thou in Jesus Christ, who shall come?" or come again?
We need to choose or decided, do we believe in Jesus Christ and all that goes with that belief.
"Will ye keep my commandments?"
There you go, that is what it all comes down too. If we answer as Helaman did, then we have/are committing to be part of THE FAMILY and all that it means. I could go on and on about what being a member of a family is, how to prepare to lead a family, be a family, build a family, etc... But we don't have time or space for that.
Then just a chapter later, Alma has gone the way of Moses, Helaman beings to teach the word to his fellow family members, and some believe and some don't. But the one that caught me was Moroni. He chose to believe and become a true defender of it all.
Alma 46: 12 - "The Title of Liberty" I think it could be also be called "Defender of Family", "Family Proclamation - Pre-Latter-Days"
Alma 46:13 - This is such a powerful verse.
Jump down to verse 17, note there are important things in between, but this is what stood out to me, this is my blog, so that is what we are doing, it has changed and continues to change the way I pray.
Verse 17 "...when he had poured out his whole soul to God, he named all the land..." This is the land in which he has stewardship. What about us? Do we have a stewardship over a land, friends, family, area, loved ones, and such? Do we BLESS them in our prayers? Do we mention them by name? Do we pour out our whole souls to God?
All that Moroni represented was for his family. Are we living the same? Are we leading, exemplifying, living as a member of the family of Christ? How does that affect our families?
Just a thought. It is small. I have much to change in my own life and continue to make changes as I go along. I continue to add names to my prayers. May you be blessed!
So, the week has just kind of come and gone.
The Queen and I worked. It was boring, painstaking at times, and just a normal week.
The Professor started getting back into a routine in the middle of the week and will jump back in to the pond of public servant tomorrow.
SnackPack has a weird week. Plans were created, arrangements made, plans changes, arrangements altered, and it all worked out in the end.
We saw Tall Man once in the middle of the week, it was a "Hey", but that is about it. I know he is reviewing more performances and working on his own between work and such.
Other than that, we tore down and removed a treadmill. The Professor's replacement treadmill arrived and we did out best to move it, build it, and use it without killing anyone.
SnackPack received his summer prize in the mail and started using it at the first football game of year. He got some amazing shots with it. It will serve him well through out the year.
We went to Farmington to witness and participate in a special baptism. Ms. Banana-anna was supported well. The entire youth group has wrapped their arms around her and shown love and fellowship. It was a good moment in time.
Her confirmation was done today and then SnackPack went a Hunter mission meeting. It looks like he will be entering the MTC on the first day of school.
Because of the above mentioned events, we missed the welcoming of Elder B from Baton Rogue. Hopefully we will see him soon and hear some stories.
That is about all we have to report. Feel free to ask questions if I am too vague. I love the conversation.
Have a great week!

Instead of Alma speaking to Helaman, put yourself in the conversation with:
- Your Father in Heaven
- Your Earthly Father
- The Patriarch/Matriarch of your home
- The person you would think would ask you these question, for some it may be a Bishop or Stake President, Home Teacher, Close Friend, Missionary, or Mission President, because at some point, no matter the state of your current family situation, you will be asked these questions and have to choose.

- He put on the Armor of God. What do each of those pieces of armor represent? How does it apply today? Are you putting on your armor? How did you answer the above mentioned questions? Are you putting on your armor?
- Then he bowed himself down...and prayed MIGHTILY...for BLESSINGS...
