What are we Receiving

Good Morning All-

I know that I am a little late in posting this week, but I was traveling last night and did not find or make the time when I finally arrived to sit down and post.  I hope your Sabbath was great!  I was inspired, enlightened, and motivated to do better because of it.

How was your week?  My was adventurous.  I will get into it a little more, but let's start with the pondering.  D&C 76:71-74.  We are transitioning from Celestial to Terrestrial.  As I pondered these verses, my mind was filled with many thoughts.  My conversations were filled with attempts to articulate those thoughts.  Let me see if I can convey them.

In one of our many adventures this week, we were having a discussion that started with a post that the Professor came across.  One of her friends was concerned about the views of not only other people in the world, but the standing of herself and her children.  Evidently a comment had been made about covenants and the sealing power.  Though it was a good question for discussion, it was not the focus of our conversation.

What we found ourselves discussing was that fact that his individual had had the opportunity in their youth to learn and understand the answer to this and many other questions.  Yet, now as an adult, they found themselves wanting to understand because it had given them reason to apply what they had had the opportunity to understand.   Our discussion was all about why they had not taken the opportunity to do so earlier in their life.  Which lead me to more pondering of these verses.

First - something that many do not acknowledge or want to understand, but as we move from Celestial to Terrestrial we are still talking about a kingdom.  These individuals still live or will live in a state of glory.  The glory and opportunities like other things differs from that of the Celestial and the Telestial, but glory and kingdom none the less.

Who are these individuals?  As I read and ponder,  I sense that they are those who accept Jesus Christ, but not the fullness of Christ's message that all comes from the Father.  The seek to follow Jesus Christ, but do not receive or follow the fullness of what he taught, the glory of the Father.

I sensed that perhaps, this individual, like many others, on accepted a portion of what Jesus taught.  They are "Good People", they just are not willing to accept or follow with completeness.  The verses of pondering continue on about those who previously lived upon the earth and did the same.  Either they did not receive the gospel in this life, or they did not choose to receive all of it to it's Fullness.

That is where my pondering has been.  Yesterday in the Sacrament Meeting I attended, it was mentioned that the fullness of the gospel does not happen just because one goes to church.  The time we sit in meetings on Sunday, 3 hours, is not enough to receive the fullness.  I wonder if that is all this individual had exposure to in their life.  Or maybe, like many we know, they were in the Sunday meetings, but they were not receiving.

In order to receive the fullness of the gospel of Christ we have to make it a part of all we do.  It is more than going to church on Sunday for 1 hour, 2 hours, or even 3.  Our Sabbath Day worship goes beyond the church building.  It is more than just having Family Home Evening, Scripture Study, Prayer, attending seminary, mutual, and or other activities.  It is all of them combined and more.  It requires that we actively participate.  It requires that we apply and internalize what we learn from those opportunities.  It is how we receive personal revelation from the Holy Ghost.  It is our choices, our attitudes, our paths, and more.  It is more than just saying, "I believe".  It is more than just being there.  It is our willingness to receive, live, and become.

Does that make sense?  These things that I mentions are the "Net" that Christ and his disciples fish with.  The hope is that they will gather us in, together, to accomplish one great whole, but we still have to receive and become "One" with God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

I like that idea of fishing.  Again, one of my gleanings from my Sabbath was a reference to fishing.  I noted that Christ taught his fishermen to fish with nets.  His goal was to gather many, together, in unity to a path where we could all grow, learn, sustain, and support one another.

Then we talked about how the adversary fishes.  He using many lures.  He seeks to pull us away one at a time with these lures where we find ourselves alone, without or thinking that we are without help or support.  Think about those vices that pull us from Christ.  How many of them are done together?  How many of them lead to loneliness?

The scriptures teach us to seek the "Kingdom" of God.  In my mind, a kingdom is a group, a whole, a community, a greater good, not something we do ourselves, alone, or for our own personal satisfaction.

Just some thoughts.  I hope they give you something to think about, discuss, and receive.  I hope they lead you to a net, a kingdom, a place where you can receive the fullness of God the Father's will for you.

Our week -

Well, the Queen, Professor, and I had the opportunity to return to some old stomping grounds this week in the Ohio.  It was fun to see old digs, observe the change in time, and learn more about others who had roots in "The Ohio".  We made in home for a few days before beginning other adventures.

We didn't see or hear much from Tall Man and Ehl-Bo, but know that they have been busy.  We passed each other on the many roads as we each strove to accomplish all that was on our plate.  We do understand that they were able to share special moments with dear friends who were receiving covenants of their own.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins were busy, busy, busy as well.  We had a brief passing during the few hours we were in town to get a hug, share some food, and exchange merchandise.  It sounds like they were able to catch up with food, fun, and games with others on the post.

SnackPack had many adventures of his own this week.  We were not able to see him either, but know that his week was filled with school, work, wining and dining.  We hope he was able to sleep somewhere in between it all.  He is running at full steam most of the time.

I love you all.  Have a good week.
