What is your light source?
Hello Family, Friends, and Neighbors -
I hope you week has been eventful. Mine has been filled with events. I am not sure any of them are super note worthy, but they were events none the less.
I have been trying to figure out that whole balance with change in routine thing. Now this week, I get to top it all off again with a change in day light savings. What will I do with the extra hour? Do you know what you will do with it? Make it great!
Before we get to far into events, let's talk about pondering. This week, I have added D&C 76:97-98 to my thoughts and pondering. As I read and pondered verse 97 I could not help but reflect upon the nature of the moon.
It is a planet. It is held in place by a balance of gravity, of the earth, and the moon's own inertia, it's tendency to do nothing or remain unchanged.
It's light is not it's own, but the reflection of something greater, the sun.
With those definitions and understanding, think about the glory of the moon. It relies heavily upon other sources to be what it is. The natural tendency of inertia or resistance to any change, but at the same time trying to move in a straight line.
Are these individuals who do not generate their own light, but reflect the light of greater? Will they rely heavily upon the other sources to do, be, and accomplish? Today, someone talked of "grey area" members. Are they members of this "grey area"?
In addition to my thoughts on these verses, I have also been reviewing conference talks and other scripture. I was reminded again and again from the words of modern day prophets that we need to become lights to the world. We need to be sources of light, not grey matter of reflection.
Then my attention was turned to the stars. Again, bodies of mass that are trying to be something greater. Think of what they could become if they joined their light together rather than trying to be something different all together. They follow their own path, scattered far and wide. We see them, but we do not feel or benefit from their energy like we do that of the sun. I am reminded of the Godhead being unified as one in purpose, power, and light. We are encourage to become unified in that purpose as well, combining and generating our own individual power and light towards a common goal.
What kind of light are you?
Our week -
Well, we are trying to adjust to the routine. The Queen attempted to step back into her normal work routine. It was kind of challenging. She has gotten use to being out and about. I think she has been on the phones maybe 5 or 6 hours this week before they asked her to start training, remotely from home, again. She is glad that they are putting her to use.
The Professor survived the previous week of parent/teacher conferences and is now trying to focus her attention to a thesis. Another chapter was due this week and things were not coming together as she would have liked. We were happy to be sounding boards, voices of reason, and sometimes even voices of opposition to help her see her convictions.
Tall Man and Ehl-Bo dropped in for a brief moment on Halloween. They were hooking up here before heading off to multiple events. Some were for hire and some were for fun. It sounds like they enjoyed them all. We recently heard of a casting. It is further north, but sounds exciting. We look forward to hearing more.
Puddin passed another year mark. We were able to join Lady Hawkins and him for an evening of aggression releasing. They told us that they wanted to bury some hatchets. The Professor was a little skeptical about being able to, but ended up being more consistent at doing so than most of us. It was fun to celebrate a year mark and catch up on the events of their lives.
SnackPack has been cruising in new digs. His transport is still being repaired, but he has been ok with it. School, work, and life have been keeping him busy. He just wishes it paid better.
Have a wonderful week. We look forward to seeing most of you soon.
