Having and Growing Faith in Jesus Christ
Happy Sabbath Day!
I don't know where you are at this moment, but as I look out my window, I am grateful for the beauties around me. We have seen a bit of rain the past few days. Our reservoirs have needed it. I know that with that moisture sometimes comes other hazardous storms. I pray that those have found themselves in such areas have been protected from the elements.
How has your week been? Are you each adjusting to the new routines that have been added to your schedules? Have you made time to study, ponder, and pray?
My study, ponder, and pray have all been intermingled this week. The verses of pondering:
Ether 12:38-41
"And now I, Moroni, bid farewell unto the Gentiles, yea, and also unto my brethren whom I love, until we shall meet before the judgement-seat of Christ, where all men shall know that my garments are not spotted with your blood."
"And then shall ye know that I have seen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these things;"
"And only a few have I written, because of my weakness in writing."
"And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever. Amen."
Moroni believes he is at the end of his writing. He has experienced a great deal in his life. Can you imagine having read all that his father has written, all that his ancestors have written, then watched most of those he loved die? He is alone doing his best to fulfill the dying wishes of his father, record the history of the 24 plates of the Jaredites.
What does he say?
As I think about my own personal study as well as that which we have been studying as a family. The message is very similar.
We have been studying the second chapter of 2 Nephi the past two weeks. Who is speaking? Who is he speaking too? What are his concerns? Are they much different from Moroni's?
This morning I read one of President Nelson's remark from April conference, "Come, Follow Me". He talks as a father who is not only worried about his family, but all whom God has given him stewardship over as well. The one question he asks several times throughout his talk is very similar to Moroni and Lehi's. "Where is my family?" I would encourage you to study his remarks.
We have been studying one of President Eyring's messages from conference this past April, "A Home Where the Spirit of the Lord Dwells." Does his message follow the same theme?
Over the past several weeks I have been pondering Ether 12. It is all about increasing, growing, and faith in Jesus Christ. I have also found myself studying Alma the Younger's words to the Zoramites and then this week, his dying messages to his sons Helaman, and Shiblon. WOW! I guess I have needed to hear something powerful. Maybe I need to get on track.
I feel weak in writing my feelings, thoughts, and impressions, as did Moroni. But like them all, I add my testimony that having, growing, exercising, and practicing faith is Jesus Christ is at the heart of all we do. It is because of Him and His atoning sacrifice that we have the freedoms we enjoy. It is because of our faith that we are able to progress line upon line, here a little, there a little, each time drawing closer to His eternal realm. I hope and pray to see you all there one day.
Our week -
It has been another mundane one - Work, Sleep, Eat, Repeat. Not in that order of course, but pretty close. There have been a few things thrown in the middle throughout the week. The Queen and I were able to attend one of Tall Man's performances. We did some shopping, some planning, and now we are thinking about a vacation.
The Professor tracked off. It has been a long week of testing and prepping for the time off. When she was not in class she was preparing for upcoming events and the year to come.
Tall Man is heavy into the performing stage. He also accepted another position as a Constable. He will start training soon. We look forward to hearing his adventures. Ehl-Bo has been busy finishing up several projects. We look forward to spending some quality time with her next week.
Puddin and Lady Hawkins continue to focus on their transition further south. The made another offer this week. We are hoping to see some results soon.
SnackPack drove home on Monday and has spent the week job hunting. We are glad to report that he has had several leads, a couple phone interviews, and has several in person interviews scheduled next week. He has a goal and should be able to obtain it before the end of the week.
