Control Yourself
This idea, like the others, can mean so many things. I have thought about it over and over again the past few days.
Last night, I got home very late. When I walked in the door, I found my Queen and Tall Man working on a project. They were just as tired if not more so than I was. Yet they were both working an a project they had committed to. Subsequently, this morning they were both up and going without complaint to fulfill other commitments they had made. I am sure it took a great deal of control.
This morning, I got up with them. It took a great deal of control for me to put on running shoes and work out. I really want to go back to bed.
I took the time to blog stalk as well. I read a post from a friend whose youngest daughter has been struggling with illness this year. She talked of the struggles they are having as the year comes to an end and their child's final grades. They did everything they were asked to do, yet it appeared that the other parties involved were not going to honor their end of the agreement. I can imagine the amount of control they have had to demonstrate. They were asked to go the extra mile and re-do the tasks that they had already completed.
Recently there haven been incident where buttons have been pushed, stress levels have run high, strings snap, and emotions have flared. We are reminded again and again about controlling ourselves.
There are so many perspectives surrounding this idea. We must learn to control ourselves in all of them. Whether it is emotional, spiritual, personal, professional, or any other venue that requires constraint, commitment, dedication, or loyalty. We must learn to take control.
Like any other thing in life, we can turn to the scriptures. I love the varied topics that are covered under Self-Mastery in Topical Guide. Take sometime to learn, post, memorize and apply. That in and of itself requires control.
