Feed My Sheep
It was so nice to return to the temple last night. I am semi-depressed about the fact that I will not be able to serve regularly for the next several weeks, but I am glad to be able to do it when I can. The time there is filled with moments of pondering, spiritual instruction, and marks of humbling growth. I walk away each week learning a little more about who I am, what I am, and unfathomable greatness of God's works.
We have the opportunity every week to meet for about 45 minutes to an hour before our shifts starts. I think that I have mentioned before that it starts in the temple chapel with a mini devotional/prayer meeting. We have always had a member of the temple presidency there to instruct or inspire. Sometimes we are graced to hear from the temple matrons as well. These meetings are some of the most spiritual. Last night we were reminded how fortunate we were to be able to meet in this fashion. Some of the smaller temples don't have space for such instruction.
As the meeting concludes, the brothers and sisters separate into individual instruction rooms or start our assigned rotations. It was during this dividing moment that I was inspired last night. I was one of the last to leave the chapel. I had a moment to stand at the top of the stairs and watch the brothers and sisters descending the stairs. It was amazing. Suddenly, I was looking at angels. I envisioned them leaving the halls of courts on high, descending to take care of their assigned duties. They each moved with confidence, grace, and power to go about his work.
I imagined the flow of angels being much larger of course, but descending to the earth to feed his sheep. It was then that I knew once more that he knows us. He is watching over us. He sends his angels from on high to go about his work. He is real. Whether we work on this side or that side, the work goes forth. We can be his angels there or here, but angels we can be.
Go about his work. Feed His Sheep on both sides of the veil.
