The Path
Isn't life interesting. I got caught up in the news the past few days. Silly me.
As I read stories of outrage over a cross memorializing officers killed in the line of duty and how it has been come the Christian World's way of forcing religion down the throats of those who chose not to believe in any supreme being. Of silly play on words and how each side tries to twist the words of the other to make it appear they were saying something they were not. Of rallies held in the capital city that asks people to be the highest and best person they can be and then hear the backlash as the organizer is slammed for wanting people to just be good. I am in wonder as I read about people doing drugs, hunting others, shooting, slayings, and tragic accidents. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of the moment.
Yesterday, I had some time to think about these events. It makes me wonder how different the kingdom of heaven will be. Won't we all be the same people? Will the realization of being in his kingdom change how some people view their lives? I don't know. I thought about a man who was shot yesterday while serving the people in his community and then an hour or so later his killer joined him on the other side of the veil. Do you wonder what that meeting was like if per chance they meet up?
Then this morning, I was looking at some pictures posted on a social network site. They were of place of wonder. The scenery was beautiful, yet very hazardous. I saw images of a group ascending and descending perilous cliffs, warning signs of danger and the only thing they had to hold on to was thick chain that had been secured to the cliff wall. They clung to that chain with vigor.
It made me wonder if we do the same. Are we holding to the rod that has been securely fashioned to the path. The dangers are all around us. Sometimes it is easy to only see those dangers. Looking at the contrast of the two events I realize that there is also an equal amount of beauty. We just have to look for it.
Hang on and look for the beauty.
