Finding Better Connections

Though I am not yet on the road again, my head has been.  I find it hard to get back into a routine after spending a week vacationing.  My thoughts have been absorbed in planning the coming week, catching up on those things I have missed and pondering small bit of eternal perspective.  My mind continues to dwell upon Pres. Nelson's talk from General Priesthood session.  I have a feeling it was triggered from our Sunday School reading.  We don't ever seem to get to it in the class discussion, but it has always stuck with me.  Mosiah 21:33  The very last sentence, "...Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant."

How could that be?  Then I look at my own life.  I am sure that I have said the same thing many times when asked to do them.  If I have not said them out loud, I have probably thought them.  My mind went back to Pres. Nelson's talk.  Though he shared a very touching life experience, the really message was in the power we have all been given in our lives.  The power of the priesthood, not just boys and men, but all of us as children of God.  All of us have the rights to the priesthood, but do we limit the power?  Pres. Nelson suggested it comes from "...laziness, dishonesty, pride, immorality or preoccupation with things of the world."  I would add self-doubt.  Maybe is it the dishonesty we have in ourselves, our laziness/hesitation to act when prompted, the pride of the natural man within us to not be humble and meek, or preoccupation of what the world might think of us, what we think the world is thinking of us, or any other such thought that severs our connection to the priesthood power.

I encourage you to go back and read, listen and ponder the messages from general conference.  How many of the leaders, again I say to all, not just to boys and men, share a message of defining, using, and participating in the power of the priesthood?  You will be surprised.

Once you have done that, I then challenge you to accept Pres. Nelson's invitation, and start seeking and using this power in your own lives.

So, on with the week.

It has been a good week.  The Queen and I found ourselves walking on the wilder side of our lives and living on the edge.  We chose a destination, set a goal to accomplish, and then flew by the seat of our pants with no real defined plans and list and let the week take us where it would.  In the course of our travels, we walked from desert sands to sandy beaches.  We found ourselves in lofty mountain tops as well as sea level valleys basking in the beauties of God's love for us.  We drove some 800+ miles, visited 6 houses of the Lord, and tried to see a little bit of everything in between.  It was a wonderful week.

The Professor held down the fort here at home, much to her disliking.  Being on year-round schedule has it's disadvantages.

Tall Man started his first kind of really week at his job.  He took a 5 day weekend starting on Thursday through today to celebrate the graduation of his sweetheart in California.  Today he heads back to start the grind tomorrow.

SnackPack took the week off for adventuring.  He toured the southern regions of California with choir buddies and associates, took payment on slap bet, and came to the grind of guarding.

It has been a week of adventures and new experiences for all.  I hope it has been for you as well.  Let's see what the week to come brings.
