Just thoughts for your own personal mulling

I have been reflecting some what on an experience I had a couple weeks ago, my scripture verse of the week, and the lesson reading for Sunday School this week.  I think I will share in the order I mention above.

The first week of June, I spent some time in Chicago being trained.  I was among a varied group of people from all areas of the world as well as positions within the company.  Some worked at head quarters.  Others came from out sourced partners that needed to accept responsibility they would help us in the event of an emergency.  But I digress.

The experience came from an activity we did on the last day.  We came back from break to find a stack of multi-color index cards piled on each of our tables.  There were 10 tables with 7 people at each table.  The cards were florescent green, yellow, orange, and pink.  On each card there was a single descriptive word.  There must have been something like 300 cards per table.  After further investigation, I discovered that each stack was exactly the same and that most of the words in each stack were duplicated or even triplicates, which made the experience even more interesting.

Any who, the stack sat there for the next 2 hours or so.  A few minutes before we broke for lunch, we were asked to go through stack and fine 4 cards that best described each of us individually.  This is when I found that there were some duplicates.  Some passed the entire stack around and let each person go through it individually.  Others divided the stack into 7 piles and let each of us go through a pile.  There was one table that tried to separate them by color and another by word.  It was all too time consuming.  It was easier to just go through the small stacks and then look through the cards that had been discarded if we had not found the one we wanted.  It was almost lunch time.  We were all hungry.

During our lunch hour, I noticed several people going back into the classroom to re-evaluate the cards they had chosen or even make a better choice on a full stomach.  I witnessed this right up to the end of the lunch hour.  Once class began, the instructors started to tell us that we needed to sort our 4 cards by color.  We were going to be grouped by the most dominate color in our pile.  Suddenly, one of the persons in my group removed a card from their pile and chose another of the same color.  It caught my eye not only because of the word on the card, but because of the way they put it back in the pile.  They did not just replace it, they took great care in putting the card back in the middle of the stack and then shuffling it just in case someone decided to look to see what word they were putting back.  I just happened to see the word before they put it in the pile.

The descriptive word was "Spiritual".

It became evident to me that this person had been stewing about this word for almost an hour.  They had chosen it, walked away, and then at the last minute replaced it for another.  What changed?  What were they worried about?

To make the experience more interesting.  On our next break, I spent a little time going through the stack.  This is when I learned that though there had been several duplicate words in each stack, each stack only had one card that said "Spiritual".

It has given me much to ponder the past couple of weeks.  What are your thoughts?  I would encourage you to record them, reflect upon them, and act upon them.

Not surprisingly, this has come to mind a great deal as I pondered Eph. 4:5.  Such a short, sweet line of words, yet very powerful.  Am I willing to share my witness of the same?  or am I ashamed to let anyone know where I stand.  What if we all carried the same witness?

Yep that one was short.  I have also been pondering Mosiah 29:13.  As I mulled over the meaning of this verse I found myself asking many questions.  I guess it was inspired by a verse or two that I read later in the same chapter, see 33 and 34.

What would be different if we replaced a few word in verse 13.  I started wondering what our families would be like if we understood the word MEN to be both Men and Women and if we replaced the word KINGs with Fathers or Mothers.  Would our kingdoms be different?   How would it effect the world?

Replace more and make them applicable:

Teacher
President
Leader
Captain
Missionary
Witness

This thought filled my mind as I thought about how many just men and women we do have in the world.  I marvel at how hard the work to make so much happen in righteousness.  I wondered what a different world we would be in if there were more.  I sincerely want and wish I could figure out how to help others want the same.

I also understand the importance and wisdom that comes from verses 33-34.  The burdens of these individuals are great.  It should not be something that is carried alone, hence the Lord has given us a Plan, an Order if you will.  It is up to us to make sure our voice is in the majority to over rule the voice of iniquity.

More thoughts to mull over individually.  Happy Mulling!

It has been a good week.

The Queen left the house bright and early Monday morning and headed out to Youth Conference.  It freaked me out  when she came flying back into the house about 90 minutes later.  Side note, we had taken the van in to get it checked out before venturing to use it for this trip.  They advised some major repairs that just did not make sense at the time.  Nor were we in the position to do so at the time.  I was a little worried that something had gone wrong.  I don't know why, but I did.  However, she had just forgotten something of importance and came back as they were late in leaving.  She sent a text a few hours later to let me know they had made it safely.  She returned on Wednesday safe and sound.

The Professor followed the same old routine that she thinks is boring and with out note.  I am sure she has many adventures each day that are worth writing about.  May be she should start documenting and keeping record.  She can then send them to future individuals and say, "Yep, I predicted this.  And you didn't believe me."

Tall Man has started rehearsals, is counting down the days, and allowed me to attend my first ever wedding shower.  After a couple pats of baby powder, I feel uplifted and refreshed.  It was all I expected and more.  I did learn however, that I need to brush up on my scattergory skills.

SnackPack is living the dream, at least that is what he told me this week, when I found his watching Netflix, in his adopted Man Cave, with a full plate of Eclairs.  He was recommended for advancement today and we look forward to participating in that ordination soon.  We are excited to finally get to share with him all that he has been missing out on in the near future.

I hope that your week has been just as memorable.
