Procrastinate Not

Happy Mother's Day -

It has been a good week.  I have been on the road for most of it, but am grateful for all the amazing lessons I have learned along the way.

To start off, this weeks verse is kind of depressing if you just read it and move on.  Alma 34:35.  It talks all about the consequences of putting off that which is most important.  But if you really ponder those things in your life that are most important, why they are important, and what you need to do to make them a priority in your life, it can be looked at as more of a warning.  I have been trying to do that.

Here we go -

First of all, I spent most of the week visiting co-workers in the great south east.  It was a great opportunity to meet them face to face for the first time, but more importantly, I was able to make connections, find understand, and re-new my perspective of them.  Unfortunately, I was also there to attend the memorial services of one of my agents who recently passed away.  Though it was a sad gathering, I was thrilled to learn what kind of person he was and his search for what we all seek - Joy and Salvation.

The journey of his life was a wonderful reminder that even in the darkest of moments, we can find Joy.  As I pondered his memorial and the word of this verse, it was even more poignant that we should not procrastinate that which is most important.

After returning home, I had the opportunity to cap my personal study and pondering this week with a visit to a temple open house.  I have found myself pondering many of the conversations I have had this week surrounding the subject.  Here is a picture.  I hope all of you who get the email can see it.

This lovely couple are my parents.  I took this picture last night in front of the temple where they committed/ covenanted to each other and God, some 56 year ago, for eternity.  They have been an example of faithfulness, love, and dedication to each other and God's commandments.  Are they perfect?  Nope.  But they are doing their best.

As I ponder my own life, my pursuit of Joy and Salvation.  I am reminded that those commitments are of those that are most important.   My relationship with my wife, children, and family are of utmost importance to me.  I am reminded that with out them Heaven and Eternity would be empty.  In order to have them with me I must also make my relationship and commitment to God of equal importance.  I cannot procrastinate.

Am I perfect?  Nope.  Am I trying?  Yes.  It is not easy.  It requires effort and deliberate obedience.  Some days I wake up and remind myself that not only can I do hard things, but it will be worth it in the end.  I hope to be able to have a picture like this someday in the future that reminds my children of what my parents have reminded me of.  This picture is a thousand words.

For those of you who are procrastinating.  I exhort you to start making the changes in your lives now.  Eternity would be empty without you.

Ok, so I was gone.

While I was gone....

The Queen did her best to get Roxidoodle groomed.  It didn't happen, much to her dismay.  She worked, managed the household, and did time checks.

The Professor is 5 days from tracking off, was released from her calling, and is gearing up to start grad school.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo ran off with friends for the week.  They called us yesterday while we were on the road and asked for SnackPack's apartment number.  I had to tell that that we did not know.  They were a little disappointed as they were going to try to leave a note or something.  We look forward to hearing the report of their adventure in Tracy.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins have done all that is possible to be together every waking moment of the day.  Most of the time it finds them sleeping.  But in fairness, she totes the BLING now, I did find them actually awake and watching a movie once this week.  Normally they are both out.

The Queen, Professor, and I joined a large part of the clan in Idaho Falls yesterday.  It was a fun adventure.  Lots and lots of bright colors.  We will have to go back when it is re-dedicated.  We need to do an Idaho Temple trip.  Oh the things we could see and do.  Start planning it...Paris, Lima, Blue Dome, Plummer, Coolin, Lemhi, and more...here we come.
