Temporally and Spiritually Cut Off

I am not sure where to start this weeks thought.  I have had several about it.  For those of you who do not know, Camille Stoddard passed away this past week.  It was a sudden diagnosis.  She was a stalwart lady in this life and will be in the next.

But the verses of my pondering have been Alma 42:6-7 "...it was appointed unto man to die..."  Pretty straight forward.  Death is part of the plan.  Why?  It hurts in so many ways.  Many of us have lost loved ones, acquaintances, neighbors, and every day we read or hear about it in the news.  Why?

As I ponder these verses, my mind is filled with many thoughts.  But here is just one.  When Adam and Eve rebelled against God, the Father, by partaking of the symbolic fruit, it was required that "...they were cut off from the tree of life..." We refer to this as a Spiritual Death, being cast out of the presences of the Lord.  However, we are only half Spirit.  Our souls are also made up of flesh.

I may be stretching it a little, but think about these verses 2 Nephi 9:7, Mosiah 2:26, Mormon 6:15.

In each of these verses, those who are dying or dead are returned or returning to Mother Earth.

Now lets go back to Alma 42.  "...they should be cut off from the face of the earth..."  Thus we are cut off from the Father and the Mother of our souls, Spiritually and Temporally.  They just don't happen at the same time.  Death is part of the plan.  For us to be perfected in Christ, we must experience both, proving our abilities to change our wills to that of God both temporally and spiritually.

Just a thought.  I am have many more.

It has been a good week.  I am still on the mend.  Last week, after posting, we were visiting family.  At one point a dog, who shall remain nameless, decided it would be fun to eat some of the desserts that were made.  I was alone in the room with said dog at the time.  Without thinking, I moved to chase the dog away.  It was just that simple movement, fast movement, that put me to my knees.  I was humbled and reminded that I am yet to be whole.  Baby steps, as they say.  I did force myself to return to work.  It came with its own challenges.  We will continue to improve.

The Queen has been in bit of a funk this week.  She doesn't know why, she just is.  The change in weather, daylight savings, anticipation of a new start time, or something just has her out of sorts.  She did what we all do, endure and press forward.

The Professor returned from one of her many adventures.  She came back with good reports and lots of new memories to share.  Once she was back, she dug in and started prepping for next years lessons.  She want to have as much of it done as she can in the event that her class load is burdensome.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo dropped in late Sunday night.  It was good to visit with them for a moment.  It sounds like they went camping this weekend.  We have see a couple postings, but not hear much about it.

Puddin started the week off with a Summer Cold.  He was hard for him to make it to work each day.  He is counting the days when he can quit and start another adventure further north.

Lady Hawkins ended the week under the weather.  She started working this week.  I wonder if the exposure to lots and lots of germs has anything to do with it.  We hear she is on the mend and add her to our prayers.

We haven't heard much from Songbird.  She has been out and about all week.  We understand she returned back to the grind this afternoon.  We look forward to hearing a report of her adventures and keeping up on what the summer brings.

That is about all we have on our end.  The Queen was bemoaning how boring we are when we can't remember the last time we left the house was.  I am slowly improving, but don't have much stamina.  I can almost make it through the block of church.  I learned quickly this week that I need to take my return to work in increments.  That is what we do, one day at a time.
