Seeing beyond Time
Good Morning All -
Another week has come and gone. I have been reminded several times this week that Time Happens. Yet time is such a relative word. I have been studying Alma 5 this week, in addition to other pondering. We, all mankind, have been granted Time. Yet, we are asked to think of the eternities. It is often difficult to imagine time beyond the moments we are currently living, but this is something that Alma asks us to do routinely think about. Can we think beyond our current state? Are we able to step outside the moment and make choices, change attitudes, and fashion our actions upon time beyond the moment? It is not easy.
As I have also been pondering Alma 11:42-43, I am inclined to believe that even Lucifer and his followers have the ability to think and process this way. Though he seems to be missing the whole picture, his actions were and/or are thinking beyond his current position. He may not be thinking of what changes he can bring about himself, but definitely about those changes that can be made to influence us. I know, I am rambling.
Ok, Alma 11:42 "...there is a death, which is called a temporal death;..." If we think about this, in the garden, Adam and Eve were told that if they partook of the fruit of the tree, they would be subject to DEATH. It was one of Lucifer's ploys that they would not. Even though he knew they would. The choice that Adam and Eve made in the moment, would effect them far beyond anything they could imagine. The choice of partaking of that fruit, opened their eyes of understanding. Understanding that each of us has before us as well, if we will be seek it. They were able to understand the ramifications of DEATH, both temporal and spiritual.
This temporal death is something that Lucifer will never be able to experience, but he knew that if we were to experience it, the separation of the spirit and the body, we would be held by the same bands that he is held by. We would be put back into the same bondage that he and his followers are in, bodiless. That was his goal, that he might subject us to the same realm he is subjected to.
However, the plan had a provision for this scenario. Did we completely understand it? I am not sure. Did Lucifer truly understand all that was required? What of Christ our Savior? Did He? I am sure, however, that we understood it better than we may understand it now, having lost memory of that council. This is where Time was given to us to remember, to let the knowledge of good and evil fully present itself before us, allowing us to make those changes and modifications required to return to those memories and His presence.
Through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ we can and will overcome death, temporally. We are promised that our spirits will be reunited with our bodies in their perfect/complete/whole form. But the kicker is "...even as we now are at this time;..." How are we at this time? Are we prepared to stand before God? Are there things that we need to change before we do? As Alma encourages us in Chapter 5, can we step beyond "this time" and see our potential selves? It is a lot to think about? It is something we need to do on a daily basis.
Enough with my thoughts -
How was your week? I have felt as though I have been somewhat disconnected again this week. Time just keeps flowing. I am paddling, but sometimes around different bends of the river.
I was in meetings most of the day on Monday and then came home in time to attend Tall Man's latest performance. It was a fun musical to watch. It was well performed.
Tuesday, I woke up and flew to the Windy City, spent the entire day in meetings, riding trains, and walking to the hotel. It made for a very long day.
Wednesday I was up bright and early to attend even more meetings. They went longer than anticipated, but gave me hope of getting out early enough to get home before the sun set. It was wishful thinking. Making connections only opened the door for the possibility of delays. There were several moments in time that I was worried I would be spending the night in the Mile High city, flying over the Golden Gate, and circling back to the Wasatch front. Luckily, it didn't happen, but I did end up getting home just as late as if I had spend the entire day in the Windy City.
The rest of the week was spent playing catch up. At least that is what it felt like.
Things here on the home front just kept flowing.
The Queen trained the first three days of the week, spent time each day on her special projects, and looking for the opportunity to get out. We decided that we would try something new this week in visits and walked. I suggested we walk the boundaries, she was not hip to the idea, but humored me. We made it around two blocks and visited with 4 different families/individuals. It was productive and fun.
The Professor had completed another year of educating. She said good bye to her latest group of minions and started prepping for the next to start. She does not have to be back to the classroom until the 24th. It is like a mini tracking off, but this time she won't come back to the same group or even the same classroom for that matter, that will be exciting.
As mentioned, Tall Man was performing and Ehl-Bo did some auditions. We have yet to hear the out come of them, but they continue to put their shoulders to the wheel. Work, work, and more work.
Puddin started a new adventure this week. He wanted to meet new people and see new things. There have been some learning experiences along the road, but he is figuring them out. He has set new goals for this week and continues the "Event" planning. Well maybe Lady Hawkins is doing the planning, he is there for support and encouragement. It is starting to come together.
We hope you all enjoy the 4th this week. For some, it will just be another day of work, for some it will be a day off. Make the most of it. There are great opportunities available either way.
