Follow - fully, completely, with the intent of knowing

Greetings fellow earth dwellers -

I hope that your current dwellings are filled with love and peace.

It has been a wonderfully busy week.  Do you ever look back with amazement at all the things you have really been able to accomplish in a week?  How often do you take the time to stop and reflect on how the Lord has blessed you, taught you, and filled your life with light and joy?  If you haven't done so, I invite you to start.  If you haven't done so lately, I invite you to do it more.

My week has been filled with ups and downs.   There have been times that I have felt challenged, beaten, and down trodden.  On the same note, there are equally as many times that I have I have been lifted, inspired, and blessed.  Today has been one of those days.

Where shall I start.  I have been pondering 2 Nephi 31:11-13.  We had Stake Conference this weekend, the theme of which was John 17:3.  I have tried to enhance my pondering with personal study of the Book of Mormon and words of living prophets.  I am so grateful that all of my thoughts and feelings were enlarged by the whispering of the Holy Spirit to bring them all together.

What have I learned.  One of the greatest desires we can have is to obtain "life eternal".  John 17:3 tells us to do so, we must "know" God and His Son.  2 Nephi 31:11-13 tells us that, through the voice of the Son, we should follow Him, and do the things which we have seen Him do.

Are we following with "full purpose of heart", "without hypocrisy or deception before God"?  Do we seek with "real intent", repenting/correcting/changing those things in our lives that will draw us closer to the path He is asking us to walk?

As I have pondered these thoughts and the words of inspiration shared with me this week, I am reminded of a GPS system.  The Holy Ghost is our constant guide.  If we are seeking the same destination, God's House/Kingdom; depending upon our starting point, the road we follow may sometimes appear to be different.  This is all based upon what we need to learn or experience along this journey of mortality.  However, as we each draw near to that final destination, our paths seem to merge/narrow.  Eventually we will all be on the same street leading to His Home.  We must learn that there is only one drive way, one door, one entrance that we can use to enter.  That way is Jesus Christ, His gospel, the power and authority of the Priesthood and His Atoning Sacrifice on our behalf.

He has shown us the way.  Last week I talked about 3 Nephi 12-14 or Matt. 5-7.  As I have pondered "following Him", seeking "life eternal", and desiring to enter in to "His House", my thoughts are taken back to these chapters.  This is the path that He has given us to do so.  I invite you to study them, again and again.  I have found myself doing so.  Think about ways to be like Him, apply it to life to day, and do it.

So there is my pondering.  Just to confuse things I would add John 3:16-17 to the mix.

Now on to last weeks reading assignment.  How many of you took time to read President Nelson's conference talk?  I know that those of you who do not have ready access, that is you SnackPack, are not getting these talks as soon as everyone else, but you are still invited to study them when you do.

President Nelson asked how we were applying the counsel of our living prophet on the earth today.  He asked three questions:

  • What would your life be like without the Book of Mormon?
  • What would you not know?
  • What would you not have?
If you have not read his talk, I would ask that you take a moment to write down the responses to these three questions first and then go back and read his talk.  I truly love the Book of Mormon.  I love all the word of God, from all it's sources.  I am so grateful for the teachings I am granted from God's hand, through His word, and according to His wisdom.  I am enlightened each time I follow Him, seek Him, ask Him, listen to Him with full purpose, no hypocrisy or deception, desiring with real intent to know His mind and will concerning my life and am willing to repent/change accordingly.  I hope you find the same light.

This week we move on to Elder Oaks.  He is next in the line of authority.  Please take the time to read, ponder, listen, and apply his words to your study this week.

Our week and been another eventful week of work, travel, learning, and pleasure.

The Queen has been having a rough go of things.  She started the week off a little under the weather.  She finally went to the doctor and is working towards the mend.  She dropped me off at the airport Monday afternoon and picked me up on Wednesday when I returned.

The Professor had the amazing opportunity to meet with both parents and students this week.   It made for some long, fun filled days of learning and reflection.  As she has shared her adventures, I wonder why some people make life so complicated.

I have only heard small snippets of the adventures of Tall Man and Ehl-Bo this week.  They have been reunited after a spell of distance.  Big shout out to both of them for their willingness to travel north and help those in need.  I understand they have both been working on various projects and employments.

Puddin(Happy Birthday) and Lady Hawkins joined us and friends this weekend in  a couple  activities.  It was fun to fill our nostrils with the aroma of chlorinated water on Saturday night and watch a couple polo games.  After visiting, we learned that life is as it should be, busy.  They continue to seek balance and order in it all.

I hope you all stay safe this week.  I will do my best to do the same.
