Holiness Continued...for a very long time

Greetings world travelers,

I decided it would be fun to drop in for a few hours before jumping on another airplane.  I do not know how some people do this every single week some times multiple times during the week.  It is crazy, crazy stuff.  But here I am.

It has been an eventful week.  I have learned a great deal about myself and even more about Hope, Faith, and Holiness.

My pondering continues with 2 Nephi 31:7-10.  We are reminded again here that Jesus Christ is Holy.  And being Holy, He was still obedient.  I have been pondering what is Holy or Holiness.  The best I have been able to come up with is Jesus Christ.  It then comes to me this week with verse 10.  "...Follow thou me..."

He is the answer to my question.  I love how the Lord hears and listens to my personal questions and desires.  As I have pondered these thoughts, I also happen to be reading 3 Nephi 12-15 this week.  Part of my study reveled to me that these chapters, the Sermon on the Mount that was given in Jerusalem, were so important that He gave them again in the land of the Nephites.  You can also reference Matthew 5-7.  But more importantly, He was telling us how and what we need to do to "...Follow thou me..."  The message basically tell us not only what we need to do but what kind of example/life Jesus Christ lived.

I will have to work on this for a long time.  There is no way I can do all of it at once.  This is just a small list of what I was able to get from these chapters:

  • We should give heed unto the words of the twelve
  • We should be baptized
  • We should believe in Jesus Christ
  • We should know Jesus Christ and that He is
  • We should testify of God the Father and Jesus Christ
  • We should be humble
  • We should be poor in spirit
  • We should mourn with others
  • We should be meek
  • We should hunger and thirst after righteousness
  • We should be merciful
  • We should be pure in heart
  • We should be peacemakers
  • We will be persecuted for His name's sake
  • We will be reviled of men
  • We are to be the salt of the earth
  • We are to be lights to the people and shine
  • We should do good works
  • We should repent
  • We should come to Him with broken hearts and contrite spirits
  • We should keep His commandments
  • We should not be angry
  • We should not lust
  • We should not commit adultery
  • We should not swear
  • We should turn the other cheek
  • We should love our enemy
  • We should give of what we have
  • We should do alms
  • We should pray
  • We should forgive
  • We should fast
  • We should seek the Kingdom of God, first
  • We should serve God and only God
  • We should have faith
  • We should not judge unrighteously
  • We should cleanse our own vessels before we try to cleanse another's
  • We should ask
  • We should seek
  • We should knock
  • We should treat others as we would want to be treated
  • We should watch for false prophets
  • We should do the will of the Father
  • We should hear the words of Christ and Do them
This is what it means to be Holy.  This is what Christ did.  This is what He wants us to be.  I have work to do, but a life time to do it and more.  One step at a time.  What about you?

So much to ponder.

How are you all doing on the conference talks?  Have you finished the two from President Eyring?  What about the three for President Uchtdorf?  I loved reading them this week.  Don't be Sad.  Don't be Mad.  Strive to be and live Glad!  We should be following the light that leads us home to Heaven.  It is a yearning for Holiness in our lives.  Do not deny it.  Be a light.  Seek light.  Don't let Satan or his distractions eclipse the Light of Christ in our lives.

Please make the time to read them.  It is one of the first things Christ tells us to do in the Sermon on the Mount.  That applies to us today.  Lets continue by studying President Nelson's talk this week.  There is only one, you can probably read or listen to it a few times this week.  Make it part of your life.

Ok, I have given you enough to think about, on with the week.

It has been filled with adventure.

The Queen has been a little under the weather as I am told.  She says she feels like a truck ran over her.  She does not like feeling this way when I am traveling.

The Professor had a few days off this weekend.  It looks like many of you decided to join her.  She did not go anywhere fun, but she did have some fun desserts.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo have experienced and continue to face the focuses found in Helaman 5:12.  They have reminded me to Hope.  I am grateful that they have been and continue to be watched over.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins thought it would be fun to float their house boat.  It did not go as expected.  Again, I was filled with the feeling of helplessness, but at the same time filled with gratitude for the amazing support of friends and family that came to the rescue.

I saw rain, sun, humidity, wind, rain, and thunder.  It was a busy week.  We will see what this one brings.

Love you all.
