Judge as He would Judge
Greetings Fellow Travelers -
I hope this posting finds you all well.
I need to start off this week apologizing for not mentioning a conference talk to study last week. I went with President Joy D. Jones of the General Primary. I know you may not have studied it this past week, but I encourage you to add it to this week's study or just throw it in where you can if you have not already been reviewing it. Each time I read it, listen to, or watch it, I learn something of value. Most importantly, that you, me, all of us have value. It is a great message.
That being said, this week I would encourage you to read, ponder, and study President Tad R. Callister words as the General Sunday School President.
This week I have been thinking a little about 3 Nephi 27:27-30.
I had the opportunity to teach High Priest group this week. We were reviewing and talking about Elder Pingree's talk. I thought a great deal about Judgment. I know that this verse does not look at Judgment in the way we would think from Elder Pingree's talk, but the word got me thinking. In his talk he referenced a talk giving in one of the first General Women's Conferences in 1979. President Kimball was planning on speaking, but was hospitalized. As a result, he asked his wife to read his comments. His talk was referenced several times during this last General Conference.
Any who, in the talk, both President Kimball and Elder Pingree talked about assignments or fore ordinations that we accepted and/or agreed to accomplish in this life. It was said that even though we do not remember these assignments or agreements, we are still accountable. Accountable for those things which were, and may I add, ARE, expected of us. Yet we tend to judge our personal actions less than worthy or of worth. We minimize our value and power through self-judgment.
This verse then ends with "...what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am." That which is EXPECTED of us is that we do our best to emulate Jesus Christ our Savior.
Then comes the glorious promise. He knows that we don't remember. He knows that we will struggle.
So....how do we succeed? It requires humility. Yep, through out the pride and ASK, KNOCK, SEEK. When we do, He will answer, He will open, He will help us find.
When we do so, we increase his glory and joy.
Our Week -
It was pretty crazy. Did I mention last week that the Queen had been to the doctor twice over the weekend. She was in pretty bad shape with a pulled muscle in her ribs. They gave her some stuff to help her sleep and reduce the coughing.
Any who, we were both going to the Windy City, so we decided to travel together. It was going to be an early morning flight via the Mile High City. At 0300, I checked the non-stop flights and found that there were some open seats and made the change. It was much better for us. Not good for the Queen, but better.
When we arrived, she went to her meetings and I went to mine. I was able to change my hotel to be closer to her so she had a comfortable place to sleep.
We repeated each day for several days. I returned home on Wednesday night, entertained leadership on Thursday and had a quiet day in meetings on Friday. The Queen made it out of the Windy City just before the storm hit and was able to relax all weekend. I just sent her off to Southern Cali for the week. I hope it will be better for her.
The Professor had a rough week. Not only did she have Parent meetings, but she was super sick as well. So sick that she stayed home from school one day. It was bad. She seems to be on the mend. We hope it does not come back. She tracks off at the end of the week.
Tall Man and Ehl-Bo were just plugging along. I have been super impressed to watch Ehl-Bo develop her talents and abilities. I love the creations she makes. Tall Man was trying to earn some extra $$ and got in a car accident. We are grateful that everyone was unharmed. Now we just worry about the car.
Puddin and Lady Hawkins strolled in early this morning. It sounds like they are doing well. If anyone knows of a flexible part-time job in the Cache County that would be able to give a consistent 20 to 25 hours a week, it would be good. Other than that, they are living the dream.
We hope you are as well. Until next week.
