Softening Our Hearts and Doing

Hippity Skippity -

Here we are starting or ending another week.  What amazing things have happened to you this week? Have you recorded them anywhere?  If you don't who is going to?  How will your children, grandchildren, an others know the ups and downs, the frustrations and joys of your life?  How will they know you?

I have been trying to get better at that.  I have felt impressed to do better at it, maybe more than this blog spot.  I encourage you to do the same.  I guess this should be one of my goals.  I do pretty good with the scripture/spiritual journaling, but I need to do better with my large plates that record my histories.

So you ask, whats on my large plates, work, work, and seems to be more work.  I am still struggling with wiring for the new TV.  I will get there someday.  I keep promising the Queen I will get it done, but my weakness and lack of skills doesn't make it happen quickly.  I am reminded of President Kimball and President Hinckley and their adventures of trying to do DIY projects around the house.

But before we get into that, lets go to pondering: Alma 34:30-31

"And now, my brethren, I would that, after ye have received so many witnesses, seeing that the holy scriptures testify of these things, ye come forth and bring fruit unto repentance."

"Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you."

These words have weighed heavy upon my mind as of late as I meet with individuals who are struggling with life, both temporally and spiritually.  I have also been studying 3 Nephi 1-2 this week and see the power and influence the gospel not only had upon the people several hundred years ago, but the same pattern and trends of the world we live in today.

"...have ye have received so many witnesses, seeing the holy scriptures testify of these things..."

Are we seeing the witnesses?  More importantly, are we receiving them?  If not, may I ask why?  Shouldn't we each ask ourselves why?  What can we do differently in our lives to see and receive?

The same questions come to mind about the holy scriptures and the testimonies of all things that are recorded in them.  Do we know the  testimonies of the prophets?  These are their large and small plates.  Are we learning from them?

I guess I can understand why some are discouraged by journaling.  If we are not willing to learn about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, why would we be interested in learning about our fathers, mothers, grandfathers and mothers.  If we are not willing to learn from the scriptures, what would lead us to learn from our parents and the witnesses of life they have to share?

It all seems to be inter-related in some form or another.  It seems that we are just as hard hearted towards recording our histories, learning from our forefathers histories, and the records that the Lord has prepared for us.  Maybe this is why I have been impressed to spend more time doing it.  Maybe I need to spend more time learning from those histories that do exist.

I need to repent and bring forth fruits of repentance.  I truly believe and have seen the rewards of the promise from verse 31, "...immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you..."  There is power in learning from the witnesses of our forefathers.  There is greater power in the lessons, witnesses, and the love of our Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.  It is up to us to reap the blessings of such by doing something to Receive them.

Our week -

Our world has been turned upside down again.  Routines have been disrupted.  We find ourselves in adjustment mode.  After a series of comical events, the Queen is no longer working from home.  There has been only one time since we have been married that we have worked in different locations.  It is kind of odd feeling for me.  She has had to make many adjustments and will probably have to make more, but we are moving on to a new adventure in our lives.

The Professor made it through the storm this week, has been developed professionally, and was successful in playing dress up.

Tall Man, Ehl-Bo, and Lego have been pressing forward.  We have not heard much about their week, hope to hear something this weekend.

After many months of waiting, Puddin and Lady Hawkins are also starting a new adventure in their lives.  I am sure they will have many adjustments to make as well.

SnackPack welcomed a new co-worker to his team this week.  It has been good for all.
