Look, Hearken, Be Faithful, and Choose

Happy Sabbath!

Our week has been eventful.  I have been pushed to new limits and have a better understanding of where my limits should be in some areas.  Life has been good.  How about you?

My pondering has been far reaching this week: 2 Nephi 2:28-29

"And now, my sons(and daughters), I would that ye should look to the great Mediator, and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit;"

"And not choose eternal death, according to the will of the flesh and the evil which is therein, which giveth the spirit of the devil power to captivate, to bring you down to hell, that he may reign over you in his own kingdom."

As I have pondered these words and the world round me, I fear that many have given up in looking forward to our great Mediator.  I have definitely seen many who have chosen to ignore his commandments rather than hearken to them.  This concerns me.

I hear of too many who say they do not have time for the Lord in their lives, but fill their time with things of the flesh.  Even those things that appear to be innocent at first, it slowly leads them to captivity of some sort.

Elder Holland recently shared his thoughts on Looking Ahead with Brightness of Hope.  This HOPE should lead us to Faith, which requires Action, which leads us to Eternal Life.  So I ask, as I have asked before, What do we HOPE for?  What is our vision?  What are we doing to get there?  How do we make this HOPE a reality?

I promise that it is not by following the will of the flesh.  Doing so only leads to short respites of pleasure and waning happiness.  True happiness only comes from enduring to the end in righteousness.  We cannot put our Heavenly Father and his plan on the back burner or even on the second pedestal.  He needs to be number one in our sights.  If we do so, everything else will fall in to place for our good.  This is His promise.  I whole heartily believe this.

Our week -

The Queen and I went on a road trip.  It was a wonderful adventure.  We found ourselves completely disconnected from the world around us several time.  It was peaceful and harrowing at the same time.  We saw many amazing sites and most importantly, spent time together.  It was well worth it.

The Professor completed another rotation around the Sun.  It was not the revolution she planned it to be, but how many of us have received what we expected this year?

Tall Man started another round with the old books.  Ehl-Bo and Lego are learning to adjust to the new routine.

We were able to witness the official swearing in as Puddin committed himself to a new adventure.  It was fun to see Lady Hawkins pin him.

After a long week of work, SnackPack went on an adventure of his own.  We understand it was breath taking in more ways than one.  We look forward to hearing about it when he returns.
