Week 1 Adventure 1

I don't know that I will continue titling the post this way, but that is what it was for me this week.  I have officially survived the first week of really working from home.  It has been weird.   I wore sweat pants and a T-Shirt all week long.  I spent most of my 8 hour shift sitting on an exercise ball.  The Queen worked downstairs most of the week, but there were a couple days where we were just on the other side of the wall from each other.  We have not worked that close together for years.  When I started talking about stuff she did not want to hear, she would start talking louder or leave the room.

As a result, I have saved on laundry and water.  I still shower and get up early to work out, but only put on slacks, dress shirts, and socks to make evening visits for the ward.  My body is screaming at me.  I never imagined what balancing on a ball would do to my legs, abs, back, feet, and lats.  It truly is an adventure.

On one of those evening outings, I had the opportunity to attend training from the General Sunday School Presidency.  It was truly a pleasant experience.  Though I came away with several things to ponder, the one that stands out  most is the importance of teaching as the Saviour taught.   I have tried to squeeze that learning out of my personal study.  In the events of daily life, I have reflected upon the stories of Jesus and how they can apply to me/us today.

My mind is drawn to Moses, Peter, Joseph Smith and more.  These great men were chosen, called, and asked to serve.  Each of them has their weakness, fralities, and short comings, but when called upon and serving under the direction of God's command, they did great things.  Moses, after years of faithful service smote a rock of pride and frustration.  Peter doubted his abilities, his faith, and lost his courage to stand as a witness of Jesus Christ at all times in all places.  Joseph Smith stumbled, fell flat, and made mistakes as a man.  He failed to heed the counsels of God with manuscripts and other things.  However, as I said, when doing as the Lord commanded, they did not fail.  In the end, what they did and how the were judged is not up to us, but to God and Christ.  We must respect and honor them for being the glorious instruments they were and forgive them as we would want to be forgiven of our weakness in action.

I have pondered the woman brought before Christ after being caught in her weakness.  Jesus said, "Let him who is without blame cast the first stone."  Then when alone with this woman asked, "Where art thy accusers?"  In my mind, I imagine her looking up for the first time and seeing that all had departed.  I would have love to see the realization shine in her eyes as it dawned on her, that it does not matter who she thinks might be accusing her, judging her, or casting blame/fault.  In the end, it all comes down to our relationship with Jesus Christ.  We will sit before him as she did, alone.  What the other thought, think, or believe does not matter.  In fact, most of them are probably only in our own heads.  We must worry only about Him.

The thoughts keep coming, but I will stop for now.

It has been a busy week for the Queen.  As I said, she had been near me all week.  Training is being thrown at her to complete from all sides.  It keeps her busy.  She took an extra day off this week to come up with a neighbor gift this year.  She was resourceful and has them almost ready for delivery starting on the 1st.

The Professor has one of those Awesome weeks where she wonder why she had chosen this career path in the first place.  Oh how she love dealing with the parents of the young, vibrant youth of her class.  It was good to see her smile a little last night as she was grading essays.  It reminded her that there is hope for most of them.

We have seen a little more of Tall Man this week.  He came home a little earlier than normal a couple of times this week.  He is hot and heavy into rehersals and spent one day praising the porcelain throne.  Maybe it was his bodies way of telling him to slow down.  He is listening.

Puddin sent a dear friend on wild adventure this week.  It was good for both of them.  Today, he is learning about what adventure awaits another close friend.  Time continues to fly by.  He continues counting down.

SnackPack struggled with the burn out as well this week. I think it was good that a couple of meets were cancelled.  It has given him time to work on his interpretive dance and other homework.  It has been fun having him and his friends around in the down times.

Seriously, I don't think I have driven much beyond 5600 this week.  We did venture south to Oquirrih on Saturday, but that is about the furthest I have gone.  Even then, I was amazed by the change and growth beyond the walls of my abode.

Looking forward to another great week.   Hope you all are as well.
