Leap of Faith
What a great week it has been! I have spent a great deal of time pondering the messages from the Sunday School lesson this week. I never cease to be amazed at how the Lord fits the subject matters in my life, the Ensign, New ERA, Priesthood, Relief Society, and Sunday School just so I get the message I need.
Then, I had the opportunity to attend a baptism this week. A baptism that has been in the works for many generations. When we drove to the Stake Center, it looked like we were going to have to sit in the cultural hall. The parking lot was full. The presiding authority said that he had never seen a baptism so well attended. Reports told that there were 4 or 5 previous Bishops in attendance as well as others who have passed beyond the veil. We heard stories of how this sister, some 37 year ago, had been serving as a visiting teacher. She was serving so well that the Bishop as the time called her in for a meeting that he might extend another calling to her. After having the call extended, she timidly asked a clarifying question: Don't you have to be a member of the church to have that calling? The Bishop said yes, and that they could fix that. She was not ready.
This week she made the commitment. When asked to bear her testimony, she boldly stated that she was not sure she had a full grown testimony. Baptism was a leap of faith she had been pondering to make for a very long time. She was going to see where it took her from here.
WOW, a leap of faith! Let the miracles follow.
Now I ponder, maybe as she has been doing. What was stopping her from taking such a leap? Faith is a hard thing to exercise. As I have been reading this lessons this week, I have wondered about faith. Would I have had the faith of those whom Christ ministered to? Would I have reached for the hem of his cloak, asked him to just say it to make it so, and/or fall at his feet pleading for him to make my children whole? Would I have had the patience of Jarius when the Lord was detained in the service of others? I am not sure. Can I be that way today? Do I have that same faith to seek him out, follow his voice, and fall before him in prayer? Some great stories. Read them again and think of how they can apply to you today.
Our week has been full.
SnackPack and I spent the day looking for a replacement for Elsa. We saw some really interesting things in the process. It was a good day. We did not find a replacement, but we made some memories.
Puddin continues to plug along. We cannot believe how fast the time is passing. We think of him often and reach for phones when listening to certain play lists. Then we pause and send a silent prayer in his direction.
Tall Man has added a new workout routine to his daily activities. It reminds him that he is still alive with every twist and turn of day.
The Professor heads back to campus next weeks, so she has spend the last few days of the week in training and preparation.
The Queen is getting ready to start working her new shift next week. She has been thinking about adding some routines of her own to the day.
The sun is shining and the flowers are almost in bloom. We were supposed to be getting a storm of some sort this week, but it looks like it fizzled out.
Have great week. Make each day brighter than the previous.
