Living Today
Yesterday, the Queen and I took advantage of the time given to us to visit the temple. As we came up out of the underground parking lot, I could not help but gaze up to the spire that supported the Angel Moroni. I found myself thinking what a grand structure this was. How beautifully it agrees with the surrounding buildings. Yet amongst those building it seemed to be hidden. I can remember the day as a youth flying into the Salt Lake Valley and looking to the East. There was never any question in my mind where the center of the city lie. I could clearly see the majestic spires of the temple.
However, if one did the same thing today, it would be challenging to pick out those spires hidden within the large building the world has built around temple square. These thoughts were answers to prayers and pondering of my week. There I was, heading to the temple. Though hidden within a small grove of worldly buildings, I was seeking it out. I entered the building with faith, hope, and assurance that by doing so, whatever toils of the outside world seem box me in with, it would all work out. The Lord would provide.
I have thought a great deal about several things and people in my life who sometimes become overwhelmed with things far beyond their reach at the present moment. They get lost and confused by the towering distractions the world has placed before them. They find themselves occupied with questions of "What if..." or toiling with hurdles that seem loom large and foreboding ahead of us, but far down the path.
And there I was, seeing, feeling, and hearing my answer. If we are living and doing things today that will lead and prepare us for the goals, desires, and righteous aspirations of our hearts, we do not need to question or toil. The answers will come when the Lord knows we are ready for them. We will find the strength and power to overcome the hurdles when they are right before us. We need not work about them down the path. Live in the present. Do the things today that are needed to accomplish what tomorrow, next week, month, year, decade, or life to come; and when they come, you will be ready.
I hope this week is finding all of you well.
The Queen completed another eventful year to register in year log of mortality and turned the page for another. It was fun spend the evening honoring her. She was happy to share it with others marking special milestones in their lives as well.
The Professor faithfully returned to her daily routine. She comes home each day sharing the joys and frustrations of young developing minds. Then she turns her thoughts to those she has been asked to help develop spiritually. The eternal round continues.
Tall Man is battling the pain of physical diligence. He is doing well to clear the most challenging hurdle of the race...the pain of body aches.
SnackPack is battling the same challenge as Tall Man of sorts. Polo is on. His body is screaming at him from many directions. Yet he endures. He is also thrilled that "Joshua" came to visit our house. He handed over the key of a resurrected Elsa. Though it is not what he was hoping for in his heart, he is grateful for the blessing of having her back in his life.
We ended the week watching the 4th battle the 16th. It was an incredibly intense battle. At the sound of the buzzer, they moved into overtime, which was received with mixed emotion. Some of the younger boys were frustrated that the older boys were put on the court, but even more so that one of the Taller, younger boys was strategically placed on the court as well. The 16th was a little frustrated with the surge of aggression they were facing and even more so that it was showing on the scoreboard. The 4th came out triumphant and the 16th went on to earn their spot at regions in a battle with the 5th. Now we have more tension to look forward too.
Side Note: There was not as much show boating in this battle as the last.
