It is all about Choices. Make them!

I am getting a little kick start on the entry this week.  I will be traveling this week and don't know where I will be tomorrow night or at what time.  So here we go.

My  mind has been all over the place this week.  Let's start with 2 Nephi 2:22-24.  How many times have you read this section of scripture?  How often have you just sat down and thought about it?

We all know that Adam and Eve transgressed, but what does that mean?  Transgress - to go beyond or infringe the bounds of a moral principle/established standard of behavior.  Was it a major transgression or was it just a simple step across the line?  It makes one wonder.

However, that is not my thought of the week.  I continued to read.  If Adam and Eve had not transgressed, what would have happened?  According to these verses, NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH!  They would have just kept doing what they were doing; tending to, cultivating, and caring for the garden.  They would have remained in the state they had been placed there in.

But they did do something.  The more I pondered these verses, the more it was impressed upon me that importance of doing something, making a choice, exercising agency; and then learning from the choices we make, the paths we follow, and the actions we take.

Did Adam and Eve make a right or wrong choice?  Other than the fact that they chose to go against a commandment of God, I am not sure.  The choice they made gave them opportunities to learn.  They learned that when one makes mistakes, they can repent or change to correct the wrongs done.  Through their experience, they were able to grow, progress, and yes, one day, become as the Gods.

I think that is the most important lesson we can learn here.  If we are to be like them, we too must make choices.  We must learn to make good choices.  We must learn to act.  We must learn to progress.  Otherwise, we gain NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH!  That is not God's plan for us.  He wants us to become like Him, but knows that we have to do it through experience.

Think about it.  I encourage each of you to work on making choices.  Don't spend forever at the crossroads, trying to figure out which path to take.  Don't put so much importance on the color of the path, the roughness of the stepping stones, the difficulty or lack there of.  Learn to follow the promptings of the Spirit.  Are they paths before you leading to God?  Then take one.  Follow it.  If, like Adam and Eve, you learn that maybe a change needs to be made, then make the change and move forward.  Don't stop.  Don't wallow.  Act!

The rest of my thoughts have been in Moroni 1-6, but that is a discussion for another time.

Our week has been pretty good.  We saw lots of moisture, but like the ducks, we survived.  The Queen and I were on vacation and thought it would be good to spend some one on one, two on one, or what ever you would call it, time with Puddin.  We spent a great deal of time in airports, a lot of time walking, and a fair amount on the road, but it was fun.  We were reminded of the smallness of the world when the Queen had to talk to the Newport Temple Recorder and learned that his is a pirate from the 1970.  They are every where.

The Professor spent the week with Roxy.  They survived.  I was worried more about recess duty than anything else.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo think they have come upon a baby grand.  I am excited to see what it looks and sounds like.  I don't know where they will store it, but the fact that it is theirs is all that matters.

We had a little get together for Puddin this weekend.  It was nice to meet and greet.  We hope to see more tomorrow.
