HEARING and so much more
It has been a crazy, crazy week, where should we start?
2 Nephi 9:13-14 - As I have pondered these verses this week, I am grateful for the witness I have received if this Great Plan. This afternoon in testimony meeting, one of the small children who did her best to bear her testimony opened my ears and heart. She said "I would like to HEAR my testimony..." Wouldn't we all? Wouldn't it be great if everyone was able to HEAR the whispers of the Holy Ghost, receive that witness from God that He is there, He loves us all, He wants us to return to Him, and this is how we do it?
Verse 13 starts out "...O how great the plan of our God!..." I was able to HEAR that witness this week in so many ways, some good and some sad.
One particular moment stands out this week and has been weighing heavily on my mind. We were visiting a young family who has been struggling with life. We asked if they would be willing to HEAR the message we had to share. We were told that they had listened to our message before and struggled with some of it. They were not sure they wanted to commit to Eternity to each other. They could not see as verse 14 says, life restored to a perfect knowledge. They could not look beyond the weaknesses, imperfections, faults, and dislikes of their family and loved ones. They were not sure they wanted to spend an eternity with those people.
My heart ached. How sad it would be to live a life with no hope, vision, or faith that we can change to be better than we are now. Feeling trapped in an eternal world that is not better than what they have now. Only hoping that death will free them from what they are enduring now, but free them to what? They have no idea. How dismal would that life be?
Then, yesterday, I was able to witness a loving couple make that commitment and covenant for time and all eternity. I was able to see the light, the joy, the overwhelming excitement of committing to it all. I was able to HEAR the witness of so many, knowingly and unknowingly, testify of the great power behind this sacred priesthood ordinance of sealing one to another, becoming bound to Christ and more. This power reaches beyond the loving couple, it will extend to their children, the parents, their brothers and sister, for time and all eternity. I was amazed to see that power, binding those who did not fully understand, those who do not have a perfect knowledge, yet they know and show through their actions that they are connected to something greater than just themselves. They do not know how to explain it, but it is there. It was amazing to me.
I am so very grateful to have HEARD this witness and I then be able to stand as a witness of what I know and fill. Thank you for letting me be a part of such a wonderful plan. Thank you for letting me see with imperfect eyes, the perfection of Your plan. I hope and pray to live worthily of it's blessings for generations to come.
Ok, there are my ramblings. Let's go on to with week.
Harvey paid a visit to many dear ones. Our hearts go out to them. As a result of Harvey's Havoc, the Queen and I found ourselves committed to 12.5 hour days this week, whether we wanted to or not. The days were long and in the end we really did not want to do much after they were over. Hence, we remained locked behind the walls of our home. (More to Follow)
I was able to get out for a short visit on Thursday night and we both escaped to West Haven on Friday. We rummaged through our food storage for Hobo type meals all week long as the thought of going shopping after a long day was just too much.
The Professor worked just as long if not longer. There were days that she flew home, ran through the house in a heated rush to attend web conferences for the grad program. She was probably feeling a little overwhelmed with the first week of grad school being stacked on to her normal routine. Luckily, she tracked off on Friday and will start looking at what she needs to do over the next few weeks to avoid that overwhelming feeling. She also escaped with us on Friday.
Tall Man and Ehl-Bo stopped by the house a couple times this week. We are excited to report that they both start new jobs on Tuesday, Hell week is over, opening night has come and gone, and they were able to spend the day on or around the lake.
Pudding and Lady Hawkins had kind of a boring week from what I hear. They both started school. Puddin go a job offer, but cannot start until the end of next week. They both spent hours at the library as they don't have access to the Internet yet. They were trying to plan a head by turning in as many assignments as they could for the next two weeks. Lady Hawkins did a couple of jaunts to this side of the mountain before coming over on Friday. Puddin was in a car accident that totally bummed him out, but was grateful to come out with a drivable car and un-harmed. They both escaped with us on Friday.
Ok - Friday. We all met up in West Haven for a decoration party. It was a crazy long, but fun night. We rolled logs, tables chairs and more. We hung pictures and wrapped chairs. We got goofy and make it all look great. Then we tried to drive our separate ways and get a good night sleep.
Saturday morning we woke with hustle, bustle, and loads of excitement. We were at the temple by 10, Puddin and Lady Hawkins were hitched by noon, and the fun was just getting started. We got more goofy, took some great pictures, had a great lunch, mingled in the hot sun, and celebrated the wonderful union of the crazy love birds. It was so wonderful to share with so much family, so many friends, and start new bonds with so many more new extended family and friends.
On to the next great adventure.
We cleaned it all up, loaded up vehicles, changed a tire, and hit the hay. Blessings poured from every where I looked. Thanks again.
Until next week - do your best to HEAR!
