If We Will Hearken...

Welcome to FALL!  Well it is Fall here anyway.  If you listen to the women in my home you would think it is Winter.  I just cannot see turning on the heater in September, especially when we see the temperatures going back up next week.

I hope that this message finds you all well.  It has been a busy week here.  Each day has brought new adventures.  However, I have been grateful to wake each day and read a set of verses.  I have reflected upon them several times through out each day.  My pondering has come from 2 Nephi 9:21-24.

"And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice..."  Each time I read this passage, I am filled with Hope.  I find myself encouraged to do more.  I am reminded again and again of the magnificent promise that comes with such a small condition in the whole scope of things.  It is that application that is sometimes hard to do.

What are we saved from?

"...the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam."
"...he suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all might stand before him at the great and judgment day..."

All the crosses we are asked to carry can be lightened through Him.  We may be asked to endure trials, but not alone.  He is always there.

As I have pondered these words and tried to apply the conditions of "...hearkening to his voice..."  I have been guided in so many ways.

There are some great articles in this month's Ensign and New ERA.  "The Savior:  The Perfect Physician", "How Survivors Heal", "Feasting on the Words of Christ", "The Gospel Path to Happiness", "Stay True through Tough Times", "The Blessing of a Persistent Challenge", "Scriptures: Ten Minutes a Day", "When People Open the Book", and then the Conference issue from May, "Perfect Love Casteth Out Fear".

These are just a few places to start that testify, encourage, and lift when one struggles with the application.  I have seen the blessings in my life as I do my best to apply.  For every action, there is a blessing, no matter how big or small, it is there.  Through the small and simple things great things are accomplished.

Heed this counsel.  Call up on the promise.  Extend your Faith and see what you will be given.  You will be amazed.  This I know.

The Queen has found herself in training classes most of the week.  When she was not training, she was out visiting, cleaning, or reading.  It has been another one of those weeks of odd schedules.  But we did find a few minutes here and there to spend time together.

The Professor relished the last few days before going back on track and then started back to the grind on Friday.  She hoping that she was able to get far enough ahead in her school work to allow her to stay on top of her classroom planning and presentation.

Tall Man continues the fight.  That has been a good thing.  It has been a week of learning and growing for us all.  Here is looking forward to a better week ahead.

Ehl-Bo wrapped up another production and fought right along side Tall Man.  They accomplish great things together.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins are on the heal.  The weeks started out rough, but appears to have gotten better as the week progressed.  As part of one of the Professor's last hurrahs, she paid them a visit and played nurse.  The latest report says they are doing well.  They are both back to work, class, and various other activities.

We had the opportunity to visit with Song Bird and her family this week.  It was a wonderful visit that allowed us to catch up and share in some of the hard times.  I don't know how much we helped them, but we left lightened and uplifted by them.

Me?  I just went with the flow.  My week was filled with Hurricane and Earthquake aftermath.  We are still dealing with a great deal of it.  I was able to serve in many capacities, and was edified and uplifted in the process.  I am so blessed.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it all.
