Simple yet Not Easy

Happy Day!

I must say that as I am sitting pondering my thoughts this evening, I am tired.  It has been a fast and furious weekend.  But I would not have traded it for anything.  It was time well spent and has given me must reason for reflection.

I am going to try to come back on track this week.  My verses of pondering come from 3 Nephi 11:31-34.  "...I will declare unto you my doctrine..."  The words of Christ as He appeared to those residing in the ancient Americas.

What a thrilling declaration!  I have read these words over and over again this week.  His Doctrine.  His beliefs.  His pattern of life.

Where did He get this doctrine?  From His Father.  That is what He patterned His life after.  His Father and His Father's will.

That being said, the part that has jumped out at me this week has been the actual doctrine.  "...that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me."

There it is a simple statement that is simply said, but one that is so very hard to actually do.

I am reminded daily of those things that I should repent of.  I am reminded daily that my belief is weak.  This weekend has been just another catalysis of such reminders.  In our travels we have witness the stark contrast of those who are trying to believe and those who say they believe, but don't seem to be doing anything to show it.  Or maybe they are, but I am just not seeing it.

My heartaches for all that they seem to be missing out on.  The joy that comes from living such a life.  Not that it is always fun or easy, but joy filled none the less.

I want to believe.  I want to  follow in the footsteps.   I desire to know and do His will.  I pray that I may fine the strength to do so.   I also find myself repenting, not only wanting these things for myself, but for so many others who do not have what I have.

If you read, studied, and pondered the words of Elder Bednar last week, I hope that you are able to see the blessing of promise.  No one can do it for you.  You have to do it yourself and yourself a lone.  By doing so, like Christ, you can show the path which He would want us to travel and in doing so, Hope, Believe, and have Faith that others will be filled with the same desire to follow with you.

If you have time this week, take some time to read Mormon 7.  Grab a copy of the November Ensign and read the words of Elder Cook as well.

So the week has been a busy one.

I think we all worked.  The Queen has been super busy working on holiday projects.   She sits behind closed doors sewing and sewing into the wee hours of the morning.  She is amazing.

On Saturday morning we were up before the sun came over the mountains and headed to the far north.  We landing and hit the ground running, towing Gram S behind us or pushing her in front of us.  It was a sad occasion, but so worth the time and energy spent with family.  We were not even there for 24 hours before heading back so we might live up to other obligations.

The Professor tracked off, did team dinners, wrote papers and responses, clean churches, and attended firesides.  She has been uber busy.

Tall Man had some job offers, pending interviews and witnessed his car going to the hospital.

Ehl-Bo has completed the transfer to a work location that is closer to home and continues to work through the holiday rush.

Pudding and Lady Hawkins celebrated with family in another joyful union of love.  When they were not celebrating, they were working their fingers to bone with long hours and late night studying/paper writing.  They never seem to have a dull moment.

Now we are here, closing the night and hoping you will all remember the Reason for the Season.

Believe.  Not just in Him, but of Him and all that He promises offer through your faithfulness.
