Look at the Action Words
Hobey Ho!
I hope this posts finds you all well, on the mend, or fully recovered from what has been ailing you. I know our house, well those that show our house as their place of residence, have had a rough week and are working their way to recovery. Travel and work are not fun when you are not well. But the ladies of the house do it anyway.
This week's thoughts come from 3 Nephi 27:19-21.
Let's start with 19:
"...nothing entereth into His rest save it be those..." the more I read and read these verses this week, the thought of action came to mind, "Washed", "Faith", "Repentance", and "Faithfulness unto the end"/"Enduring". These are all action words. We cannot sit idle, doing no evil, and expect to enter "His rest".
Will we be rewarded if we sit idle, doing no evil? I am sure we will be given more than we could ever imagine, but it will not be with Him or in His place of dwelling. Isn't that what we are aiming for? Are we willing to take our chances and forfeit that opportunity? What are we willing to do to have that opportunity?
It requires that we do.
We are told to Repent - change/modify our behavior to match those of our Savior's. It does not happen over night. It requires effort, review, tweaking, and modification, but not just behavior modification, but with the intent of entering His rest.
We are to be Baptize - in other words, we need to immerse ourselves in step one. Repentance.
We are to be Sanctified - by receiving(Action Word) the Holy Ghost. We have to prepare ourselves, our environment, our hearts, our minds, and our lives to be a place the Holy Ghost would be welcome. We have to receive/seek/welcome Him in.
All of these things are a part of that action word, Wash.
We don't just do it once, we keep doing it. Doing the things that He did and does.
I was reminded of those things this week as I read Mosiah 2-5, King Benjamin's sermon. If you have not read or studied in a while, I would encourage you to do so.
President Owen's talk, which was this week's conference review, was coincided very well with these thoughts.
Then, Snack Pack commented on how so many people have started the path, but then stopped. They give up, they don't want to work anymore, they lose hope, and become idle in their progress.
Don't be one of those people.
In Sacrament Meeting, we heard from a young family who have been displaced due to the hurricanes that hit the islands and south this summer. I was inspired by them. They were living in Puerto Rico. As they shared their stories of adversity in their lives, how they found hope, cling to it, and continue moving forward, I found my hope and faith being strengthened. I love how to Lord is in every part of my life, if I am letting Him in and seeking Him.
I pray that you do the same.
This week's conference talk of study is President Oscarson from the Young Women. Make the time to add it to your study.
Our week -
It has been kind of crazy. The Queen was already starting to feel a little under the weather when I dropped her off at the airport. As the week progressed, it only got worse. When I left her on Wednesday, her current manager had sent her to the clinic to be treated. They did some breathing treatments, put on antibiotics, and told her to rest. She did as much as she could while still maintaining work appearances. She came home this weekend and crashed.
When the Professor left for work on Monday, she was not feeling so hot either. She had gone to the clinic the weekend before and was on some medication, but it did not stop it from happening. By the time I got back into town on Wednesday, her voice was at a whisper, but she kept on going like the Energizer Bunny, but she crashed every evening this week to re-charge her battery.
We caught up with Tall Man and Ehl-Bo for a few minutes this weekend. We were glad to see them. They are busy, busy, busy. We were happy to see them both in good health.
We know that Puddin and Lady Hawkins are alive, we hope they are well. It sounds like they have been doing the same, sleep, eat, school, work, school work, repeat. Not always in that order, but pretty close.
We are now on to another week. Let's see what it brings.
