The Shield of Mercy...do you have yours?

Well, here we are trying to play catch up again this week.  I don't know how it all slips past me, but it does.  I guess I need to get better at time management.  Someday, Someday.

Ok let see how much I well I can convey the rambling thoughts going through my head this week.

Alma 34:16

"And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice; therefore only unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption."

There are so many thoughts that come to mind as I ponder this verse.

I have had the opportunity to review the questions asked prior to receiving a temple recommend as of late.  I guess better said, I have had the opportunity to ask and try and explain the questions asked prior to receiving a temple recommend as of late.

Question 2 - Do you have faith in and and a testimony of the atonement of Jesus Christ and his role as your savior and redeemer?

As I read, "...encircles them in the arms of safety..."  I can't help but envision my Savior, Jesus Christ, standing before the bar of justice and wrapping his loving arms around me, protecting me, shielding me, and safely guiding me from harms way.  How?  I don't know or fully understand, but yes, I have faith that through him and because of him, I can be protected from the demands of justice, if I am willing to repent.  We all can, upon the same conditions.

I have pondered these thought a great deal lately.  In my personal study, I have been reading and re-reading the words of Samuel the Lamanite as he stood upon a wall.  He testifies boldly of the same thing.  The words put into his heart and mind were that all who heard or read them will know to what intent we should be looking.  That we should know and understand the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I know that without Jesus Christ, I would even be able to stand before the bar of justice.  Isn't that amazing?  Have you really thought about what it meant for all of us to agree and covenant to come to earth?

We were living in the presence of God the Father.  Things were pretty good.  But, we knew we must die at the end of such an existence to live in a fallen state or world.  A place where God does not routinely dwell.  Thus we died a spiritual death.

The atonement of Jesus Christ allows us to be resurrected from that spiritual death and stand again in God's presence, before the bar of justice.  The atonement of Jesus Christ also allows us to stand with Him as our advocate, our protector, our shield, our counsel, our mother hen, if you will, but only on the conditions of repentance.

So the question is presented.  Where will we stand?  Do we have the faith to repent and stand behind him or will we stand alone to face the demands wholly exposed to the demands of justice?

Invite you to study, ponder, and act upon that which you are taught.

Our week -

It has been kind of sickly around here.  The Queen came home from the Windy City with a bad case of Bronchitis.  She went to the doctors on Saturday to see if she could get some assistance, but it took several days for the medications to kick in.  It was not a fun way to start a vacation week, but we made the best of it.

After healing started, we were able to enjoy a couple more visits to new temples for us.  The drives were long, the company was great, and the stress that came with it all was well worth it.

The Professor muddled along without us.  I understand it snowed a little while were basking in the desert sun.  She was not happy about that.

Tall Man continued to fight the daily grind of work, school, and juggling life.  We learned that it has been a crazy week for Lego as he broke his first tooth and was comforted along the way by Ehl-Bo.

Puddin finally started seeing some results from his patient waiting.  We home the rest of the process will be more rapid fire.  Lady Hawkins is doing her best to deal with worldly professors.

SnackPack has been busy this week.  It has been go to catch up with friends, meet new ones, and say hello to the fish along the way.

Last night, we four men folk were able to have a little guy time.  It was fun being together and watching some B-Ball.  In the adventure, I learned that I could still use the old trigger finger.  Great memories.
