Spelling with a Purpose

Howdy, howdy,

I hope this post finds you all safe and healthy.

Has your week been as crazy as mine?  I appreciate those who have checked on us to make sure we were being careful in all that was required of.  If you are reading this message, you know that we survived.

This week's ponder comes from 2 Nephi 31:18

"And then are ye in this strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life; yea, ye have entered in by the gate; ye have done according to the commandments of the Father and the Son; and ye have received the Holy Ghost, which witnesses of the Father and the Son, unto the fulfilling of the promise which he hath made, that if ye entered in by the way ye should receive."

Every time I read this verse I am drawn to the spelling.  Just this morning the Queen was reminding me that using the right spelling of words that sound the same is very important.  I don't think that Joseph and Oliver made a mistake in spelling here.

What is the difference between Straight and Strait?

Nephi also uses the word Narrow here.  Why do you think the two are together?

What have you learned about a Strait?  How hard would it be to turn around in a Narrow Strait?  Is it impossible?  Is it easy to maneuver a Narrow Strait?  Are there challenges, dangers, and sacrifices that have to be made when maneuvering a Narrow Strait?

I think the imagery is important.  This path, though challenging, leads to eternal life.  Before entering the path, one needs to understand the commitment required.  Once in the path, one must remain faithful to those commitments, regardless of the challenge before them, to exit triumphant on the other side.  It requires that we keep pressing forward.

The other promise here is that once in the path, we are given a tour guide to follow, even the Holy Ghost.  Are we heeding the guidance and counsel of our tour guide?  What danger lies in not heeding the counsel of a tour guide?

I invite you to keep reading and moving forward.

Our week:

It has been a busy one.  The Queen and I have taken advantage of many opportunities presented to us this week.  We have also seen the blessings of Heaven showered upon us as a result.  I am continually amazed at our Heavenly Father's loving hand.  He is aware of us and blesses us if we will do our best to heed his counsel.

The Professor is counting down the days that she can spend the entire day training and teaching Gus-Gus.  She is down to the last 5 days of the school year.

We haven't heard or seen much of Tall Man, Ehl-Bo, or Lego this week.  It has been busy for all of us.

Puddin is counting down the days to his next adventure.  We wish him the best.  We are also grateful that Lady Hawkins had been blessed with additional opportunities this week.  We hope they continue.

SnackPack has dropped by a couple times this week as he prepares some business transactions.  He reports that all is going well.
