Always in our Hearts

 Howday -

Again, we find ourselves on another wonderful Sabbath Day.  Today, our ward returned to our first of weekly meetings.  It was new and exciting.  For the first time that I can remember, it was broadcast to ward members who were not comfortable meeting in large groups.  I look forward to the next couple of weeks.  We have a returning missionary, who has asked if we can broadcast to members of his family who do not live in the state.  The following week, we have a young man who has entered the virtual MTC, but will be leaving for the mission field on the 27th.  I am excited and nervous at the same time.  I am not sure we will have enough sacrament trays to if they pack the building, which is very likely.  We will have to see how it goes.  Today, we had just under 100 in attendance and 20 or so attending from home.

My pondering this week comes from Enos 1:3-4

"Behold, I went to hunt beast in the forest; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the joy of the saints, sunk deep into my heart."

"And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens."

What do we learn about the life of Enos here?  It sounds like his father and mother testified often of the Savior.  I am sure it was not only in word, but example.  Yet, it was not until Enos was out on his own, in his own wilderness, that he started remembering the things that they had testified of.

What did he remember?  The talk of Joy and Eternal life.  I have a feeling that Enos might not have been super happy at the time.  He knew that something was missing in his life and he wanted to make a change.  He wanted to have JOY.  He wanted to know about Eternal Life, so much so that his soul HUNGERED.

How many of us have been in his shoes?  How many of us want to be?  How many of us want the same thing that Enos wanted?  How many of us have HUNGERED for it?

Enos knelt before the Lord and cried until him.  All so often, we read these words and think "one and done".  It just took one day and one night of pray to receive his answers, but I would beg to differ.  This week we have been reading the council of Christ when he visited the Americas.  He told them that they should pray always and when they were not praying, they needed to have a prayer in their hearts.  The same principle applies to us and our pursuit of JOY and Eternal Life.

I see this record and just the beginning of Enos' life long prayer and supplication.  He learned to pray always to know those things that he should do to obtain them, and then he did them.  I hope that we are doing the same.

Our Week -

It has been a different week for us.  I am back to a full schedule.  The Queen continues making the adjustment to waking in the wee hours of the morning and heading to work.  I made some changes in my schedule to join her in the working, just not the same work place.

The Professor is so looking forward to Winter Break, but dreading what that means she has to do to prepare with final grades for the term and soon to be parent/teacher conferences.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo are doing wonderfully well in their busy lives.  Ehl-Bo started her first shifts at the village.  We have enjoyed every moment we have had tending Lego while they both work.  He is fill of energy and life.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins are also very busy.  We look forward to visiting with them this weekend.

SnackPack is crazy busy, but loving every minute of it.  He only wishes he had more hours in the day to enjoy it all.
