Inspired

I know that it has been a while. Things have been kind of crazy around here. We are all still standing, walking, talking, and all the other things we should do.

This afternoon, I had the opportunity to attend a leadership meeting. It was wonderful. It was what I needed to hear. I need to make a point of talking to the president and letting him know that the messages delivered were messages of inspiration. He commented several times how he was probably "preaching to the choir", but I must say that he was not. I needed to hear the message.

One of the messages delivered has held my thoughts this evening. A story was related of a young bishop who was worried about the members of his ward. He prayed for them on a regular basis. He sought guidance from the spirit to know who he should visit, when he should visit, and what he should say when he did.

One particular afternoon, he felt inspired to stop by a certain member's home. This member had been on his mind for quite some time, but they were never able to connect. This particular afternoon, he was excited to see a car in the driveway when he pulled up. As he approached the porch, his anticipation of meeting with this member increased as he hear music flowing through open windows.

He knocked, but no one responded.

He knocked again, only to have the same result.

Because of the inspiration, he felt he needed to make contact. He approached one of the open windows and called out the members name.

Still no response.

Standing next to the window, the young bishop noticed that a gate to the back yard was open. The thought crossed his mind that the member might be working in the yard and had perhaps opened the windows to hear the music that was playing within. So, he proceeded to the backyard.

It was clear that someone had been working in the yard. He continued to call out the member's name as he circled the yard.

Unfortunately, there was still no response.

Discouraged, the bishop found himself standing on the member's front porch again wondering why he had been sent here. After a moment he felt that the member was there and that for what ever reason was not responding. He decided that if nothing else he was at least going to leave a message.

Pulling a small 3x5 card from his pocket, the young bishop scribbled a reference from the bible, and signed his name. He slid the card between the door and the door frame and walked away. The card read "Revelations 3:20".

....to be continued....
