Scripture Thought

1 Nephi 8:30-33

I think it is really interesting that just today I was reading the Ensign, published almost 2 years after I made this scripture journal entry and there is an article about these very verses.  I learned more today.  I was given more to ponder upon.  This book we are reading, continues to give knowledge and understanding as we progress.  Read it for yourself and listen to the personal revelation that is sent to you.

In these verses we review those that came, those that were lost along the way, and those that found the fruit.  In the article I was reading today, there is mention of four types of people.

There were those that did not seek the tree at all.  Some of them saw the building and made there way there.  Others of that group were lost along the way.

There were those that found the path and started towards the tree.  However, it was pointed out that they never reached or even saw the rod of iron.  There focus was not always on the path and soon, they followed suit of those that never even went for the tree.

There were those that found the path and the rod.  As they made their way along the path, they were said to cling to the rod.  Clinging me sets images of some one who is scared or hanging on as if their lives depended upon.  Not all of these made it to the tree.

Finally there were those that found the path and hung to the rod continually.  These are they that made it all the way to the tree and partook of the fruit.

What is the difference between the last two?  One clung.  The other held on continually.  Like I mentioned, clinging sends images of someone who does not have a good grasp of the rod.  Maybe they let go every once in a while and had to scramble back to the path, sometimes barley wrapping their fingers around the rod.  Hanging on as if their lives depended upon it.

It gives one much to think about.  Where do you find yourself?

What of those that were lost on the way to the building?  And of those that made it to the building?  Were some lost within?  Did all of them really make it to the point where they could turn and scoff?  Though they made it to the building or made their way to the building are they truly lost forever.  Will they always be denied the fruit?

This is the glorious part of the plan.  The fruit, Atonement through Jesus Christ, is always there for them.  It's beckoning light is forever shining to all, lost or not lost.  If we but put forth our faith in him, we can partake of the power thereof.  We can be redeemed and saved through Jesus Christ.  The choice is ours.
