A Hunger or Thirst

I had some interesting thoughts today during worship services.  I am afraid I have become quite complacent in many areas of my life, but specifically my quest, hunger, or thirst for the good.  As I listened to the comments and verses we were reading, I realized how much I take for granite.

We read from Amos 8:11 as we discussed the apostasy and restoration.  What struck me most what the fact that people would hunger and thirst after the word of God.  As I looked around the room I wondered how many of us were thirsting or hungering after the word of God.  We are one week a way from hearing directly from the prophets of the Lord, yet we were not engaged in the meeting before us.  Some were day dreaming others in completely different applications or meetings all together.

Then we listened to the testimonies/conversions of many latter day saints.  There were so many of them who studied, quoted, and almost memorized the word of God written in the scriptures so that they would recognize his kingdom when it was presented to them.  They were truly hungry.  They desired to drink from  his cup.  What of us?  Do we seek Him the same way?  Do we need to change/repent of such actions?  I was suddenly overwhelmed with the thoughts that I most certainly have need of change.

The thought is small, but most weighing upon our personal salvation.  I invite you to ponder, change if needed, and feast upon the word before it is taken from before us.
