Life is Good
Where do I begin this week. We continue to keep our arms and legs inside the vehicle, but it does not mean we don't feel the bumps, rush, or wind in our hair.
Life is good.
The Queen continues to prepare for her upcoming adventures. I am sure she will have stories to tell. We look forward to hearing them. She spent most of the day Saturday helping Puddin get stuff in order for next weekend. Even though they have vehicle at their disposal, the boys find ways to get us where they are most of the time. Luckily we are not always taking both vehicles.
Our Professor has been on leave this week. She spent her down time running, shopping, and shopping some more. I have been impressed that she is actually running in the great outdoors. We took a run together on Thursday and discovered what really runs through the veins of our little town. It was an eye opening experience. I observed most of it. She just got bits and pieces here and there, but now she knows why it would not be a good idea to run the canal road by oneself.
Puddin wrapping up his high school career. We are taking it one day at a time and plan on seeing him succeed on graduation day, whether he thinks it is important or not. Good news is that he was hired this week and will return to his position poolside this summer. He completed State for choir and now has Green Sheets and certifications.
Snack Pack spent most of his time this week trying to secure a position poolside. We found out yesterday that he will be tanning along side Puddin. It is good news for both of them. Now we wait to hear about Mads or Show and watch the year wind down. This week will be filled with conference tournament and the dinner show. It should all be interesting.
I want to end the update with thoughts and feelings of the day.
We had an interesting meeting today. I won't go into much detail about the abnormalities, but I will talk about some of the thoughts and feelings I had.
One of our youth speakers talked about the parable of the Sower. As I pondered her remarks and listened to a returning missionary, my mind was filled with those that are currently serving and those here at home that continue to work with our neighbors, friends, and ward members. The question came to my mind, "If a seed is sowed on top of a rock, will it grow?"
Think about it.
Now look at this tree. Amazingly enough, there were several of them just like it all along this wall. One would think it impossible for a tree to grow out of a rock, but it did. How? The parable says that many seeds were sown on the rock, but did not survive. Was it because the seed was stronger than others? I think not. I believe it is because rock softened enough to let the seed in. As the seed grew, it continued to change and conform to the will of the seed. Together, they both became this amazing creation.
The gospel is the same way. It does not matter how hard the ground is where we sow, what matter is if the ground is willing to change and allow the seed in.
Our returning missionary shared an invitation that I thought would help soften the ground of many, if they are willing. Why would it work, because they would have to soften just to take the invitation.
We were invited to simply pray. In this prayer, ask 5 questions in sincerity.
1 - Father in Heaven, are you really there?
2 - Do you have body similar to mine?
3 - Are you really my father?
4 - Do you know me?
5 - Do you love me?
He will answer each of these questions. If asked sincerely we will know that He is real. He created us in His image. He is our Father. He knows us so well that He could tell you what your favorite ice cream flavor is. And most importantly, that He loves you more than you can ever imagine.
It was a great meeting. Lots of great things to think about.
Have a great week.
