Give Stewardship

Well, it has been another one of those wonderful weeks where I have witnessed the Lord hearing, answering, and teaching me as I have pondered upon His word.  I hope it has been the same for you.  I have learned so much and been reminded of even more.

The verses of ponder this week were Genesis 1:28-29.  They just happened to fit in to this weeks Sunday School lesson for our ward as well.  Then the experiences of the week just gave me more thought.

Where do we begin?

"...God blessed them..".  So simple, yet we often look over it.  I have pondered how much I over look the blessings He has given me.  I have been reminded that I need to demonstrate and live a more grateful life style.  He has blessed me as He blessed them.  We, like them, are in what many would refer to a lone and dreary wilderness.  He has sent us here to learn from our own experiences.  Yet, in our learning, trials, tribulations, and afflictions, He blesses us, both big and small.

"...Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:  and have dominion..."  Just like being in the garden, but a little more challenging.  The commandment outside the garden was just the same as it was in the garden.  And as I was reminded again this week, this was a Spiritual Law, as all laws and commandments given to us are Spiritual.  See D&C 29:34-35.

This commandment is really no different than the Law of Consecration.   First, the people of the Lord were asked to consecrate all that they have or will have to the Lord.  Adam and Eve had been given everything that they needed to this point.  In the garden, they were given a stewardship to tend and care for the garden.  They were given dominion.  When they left the garden, they were given the same.  Not just a garden, but the whole earth.  The commandment remained the same.

Once a person had exercised the faith to consecrate all that they had to the Lord, He, through His ordained leaders, gave it back to them.  They were then ask to be stewards over that which they had been given.  They were to care for it, make it fruitful, make it multiply, and replenish it.  They were to subdue what they had been give.  As I pondered these thoughts this week, I was reminded of the parable of the Talents.  Like the faithful servants, the Lord gives us stewardship.

What are some of them?

A body.

A spirit.

A family.

From those three things, grows all.  We have stewardship to take care of, be fruitful with, multiply, and replenish that we might provide that which is needed for them.  Any extra, we should give back to the Lord that He may distribute it to those who lack.

If you think about it, this idea has so many faculties.  I was reminded of this the other day as I walked down to the strip mall near our home.  Recently, there is a little shop that has come to occupy a section of this strip mall.  The individuals who have rented this establishment take their stewardship seriously.  On this particular day, the owner was out front, sweeping and cleaning.  He was sweeping the parking stalls that were directly in front of his doors.  He was cleaning the sidewalk that pass in front of his small store.  As I looked in, I could see that the floors in his small establishment has just been swept and mopped as well.  He was exercising his stewardship.

Do we do the same with that which we have been given or blessed with?  Should we?

Give it some thought.

On with the week.

It has been kind of stressful.  One of the first things we did this week was take Roxy in for surgery.  She has been a trooper, but it has been hard to watch her.  She is not a happy girl right now.

The Queen and the Professor are better nursemaids than I am.  They have taken on the extra duties with love and care.

In addition to caring for Roxy, we have all done the same old, same old, sleep, work, eat, and sleep.  It is a cycle.  We did have the opportunity to go with Polo 15 to the temple this week, then the Queen and I had the opportunity to clean the temple on Friday.  We also went to two wedding receptions.  I guess there has been a little out of the norm.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo are doing what they can to drain themselves of energy.  It was the last week of rehersals before another opening night.  I did see a picture of both of them completely out back stage.  They look like they had been through a wringer of a week.

Tall Man was cast in another play that will start as soon as this one ends.  However, it is not in down, it is a little further south.

Puddin has been working and living the dream.  When he is not working, he is talking to Lady Hawkins on his device or driving to hang out with her.  They do that a great deal on weekends.  This weekend, they introduce a hammock, their own.

So there you are, another week.  Hope you all enjoyed the Easter Celebrations this weekend and take the opportunity to manager your stewardship going forward.
