Great, Marvelous,and more...
Let's jump right in - D&C 76:1-5
There is so much in these few verses. I love them. The past several weeks I have been teaching the Gospel Principles lessons in Sunday School. Today, we talked about the Holy Ghost. As I have pondered these verses and this lesson the thought came to my mind and I am reminded that:
There is so much in these few verses. I love them. The past several weeks I have been teaching the Gospel Principles lessons in Sunday School. Today, we talked about the Holy Ghost. As I have pondered these verses and this lesson the thought came to my mind and I am reminded that:
- The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead.
- He testifies of truth.
- He brings those words and teachings of God to light or my remembrance.
- He is the same from eternity to eternity.
- He knows the plan.
As we were talking about the Holy Ghost, one brother said, "The Holy Ghost is like the second counselor to the Presidency of Heaven." It is true. I have thought of that idea before, but today it came to me in a different light.
As a member of the presidency, he knows almost everything that God the Father knows. They share in wisdom. However, only God knows the full plan. He knows is better than we know ourselves. I suddenly related to being a second counselor in a presidency or bishopric. People would come to me with recommendations, questions, or inquiries that could only be answered by the presidency. I would let them know that I would get back to them.
We would then meet in council. There were times, like with the Holy Ghost, that the President or Bishop would say, "Not right now." Or "There are things that I understand that you don't, so we will have to wait on the answer to that request." He, president or bishop, had insight that I did not as a counselor, but I had to deliver the message. The Holy Ghost is the same.
However, it does not matter how much he understands or not, he puts his full trust in God the Father. So should we. As these verses state, "...Great is his wisdom, marvelous are his ways, and the extent of his doings none can find out." "...His purposes fail not, neither are there any who can stay his hand."
And even with that said, we go to verse 5. "...I,..., am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end."
All so true.
I love the gospel.
Any who, on with the week.
The Queen spent a good portion of the week in the Windy City. It was an adventure in and of itself. We are always glad when she comes home and sad when she bids us a brief farewell.
The Professor is enjoying some down time from her masters program. She has finalized some papers that are due and now has a few weeks off before class starts up again. It has given her time to prep for next year.
Tall Man and Ehl-Bo are busy with work, creating, metal smith'ing, play rehearsal and a whole bunch more. We saw them only briefly this week.
It sounds like Puddin and Lady Hawkins are just as busy. They are quickly coming upon finals. Lots of stuff to juggle in the middle of life.
I just sit here in this chair. Watching it all happen around me.
Love you all....
