Interested to know
Greetings All -
I am going to be honest, it has been a different type of week for me. I found myself traveling Sunday afternoon and forgot take my weekly ponder schedule with me. That did not mean that I did not study, ponder, and pray about stuff. It just meant that I did not ponder on the same scripture verse each day as part of my study.
Any who, that being said, I am interested. What did you ponder this week? What small and simple things did you do to elevate your closeness to your Heavenly Father? Jesus Christ?
Seriously, I am interested to know. I know there are some of you out there who read this blog. Are you willing to share?
Were there any moments in your day that made you think of your divine nature? Did you have any dialogue with your significant other, child, parent, friend, or perfect stranger about the hand of God in your life or theirs? Did you have or take the opportunity to minister to someone? How did you feel afterwards? What did you walk away thinking about, researching, or understanding?
I am happy to report that I did have several of those moments. I don't understand they all, but they have touched me.
Prayer - I thought a great deal of prayer and my communication with my Father in Heaven. I continue to see ways in which I can improve and have better communication.
My beliefs, practises, and testimony came up several times this week. Some of them caught me off guard. I learned how important it is to always be prepare to share, testify, and expound little by little to build trust and leave the door open for future dialogue.
I had a wonderful opportunity to go to the temple with my wife this week. We were in Chicago. It was a new temple for me. Interestingly enough I found myself to be the only brother in the session. Even more interesting were the impressions that I had throughout the session. I don't know why, but my observant nature seemed to be drawn to a sister in the session. I felt impressed to see if she needed a blessing. It just kept coming back to me. Before leaving the Celestial room, I followed the impression and asked. I learned that blessings are not given inside the temple, but that it is recommended that the person seeking a blessing return to their local priesthood leaders. The comment that stayed with me is that she was there thinking of others who were in need and the thought had not occurred to her to seek a priesthood blessing. She promised that she would follow up when she returned to her local area. I walked away not fully understanding why, but grateful that I had the courage to follow the prompting.
The thinking, researching, and understanding is an on going process in my life.
I don't know that I have shared anything of great value this week, but it has been good for me. Hopefully, somebody will benefit from it in time.
Our Week -
The Queen came home late Saturday night. We spent a wonderful day at church and then I jumped on a flight and headed out. It was a short one for both of us. I understand she drove north to check on things there on Monday and then joined me in the Windy City on Tuesday. Though we were both doing completely different projects, it was fun to meet up at the end of the day and just be together.
We had the opportunity to briefly make contact with co-workers from days long past. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Their journeys through the past 20 some odd years were inspiring.
We gathered with current co-workers, celebrated milestones, saw a couple different hotels, and went to the House of the Lord. Who could ask for more.
I set off on Friday, she came home on Saturday.
While we were gone the Professor held down the fort. She didn't talk much about her week, but enjoyed a play-off Jazz game on Friday.
Tall-man and Ehl-Bo were busy all week. They are getting ready for another opening night that is less than a week a way.
We were happy to see both Puddin and Lady Hawkins today. They find themselves prepping and cramming one last time for finals. We hope and pray that all goes well for both of them this week.
It was good to share with family today. Covenants have been made. Lessons were learned through example. Love was felt through the experience. I look forward to more opportunities doing the same.
