Power of Enlightenment

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Today, we stood back and reflected.  For the past 5 years, we have attempted to spend Mother's Day in the same fashion.  We tried to keep the cycle going this year.  We have had the wonderful longing to visit with one of our Missionaries.  This year we were reminded of the time the Mom found herself stranded in a foreign country and we had to do a three way call to allow those in the family who wanted to visit to do so. We almost had a repeat of that this year as Mom almost found herself stranded on the other side of the continent, but the travel angels were watching out for her and she was able to make in home.  Today, our visit was wonderful!

Now that we have reviewed, we realize that today we have hit a milestone.  I don't know what we do next year.  It will be different.  As we attended church, we talked to some Mother's who were realizing that they were just starting what we are ending.  It is a bitter sweetness that helps us appreciate even more the sweetness of family.

Any who, Happy Mother's Day!

This week I have I have been pondering D&C 76:10-12.  I often find myself yearning for such enlightenment.  I have read these verses over and over again this week.  As I read the experiences of Joseph and Sidney, I feel the burn of envy in the pit of my stomach and then I realize the vast responsibility that comes with such enlightenment and wonder if I am strong enough to carry such a burdensome load.  I know that I would not carry it alone, but I can only imagine how burdensome it must have been.  Sidney was not able to endure the load.  Joseph carried on through the end.

I have been filled with many moments of pondering.  Today, in Elders Quorum, I received the answers I was seeking.  I have read and listened to the talk we discussed a couple times in the past month and a half, but today it came in answer to my prayer and seeking.  We reviewed President Oak's words from conference, "Small and Simple Things".  We never really realize the effects we leave by doing the "Small and Simple Things", but their power and strength are life changing.

Prayer, Scripture Study, Service, Seeking Knowledge/Instruction, Sharing Testimony, Living to the Best of our ability, Enduring to the End, is what it is all about.  I have been enlightened, through the "Small and Simple Things".  Sometimes they are so small that I overlook or ignore them, but they are there and they are powerful.  I need to spend more time recognizing them.

I encourage you to do the same.

What a wonderful week.

The  Queen is counting down her days in the Windy City.  She has seen the beginning and ending of the current project go through Chicago.  In a couple weeks, she will move to other locations to help them bring their end of the project to an end.  She has really enjoyed the ups and downs of the experience.

The Professor has been doing interviews among other things.  She is getting ready to track off.  The school year is coming to an end.  And they find themselves a little short on staffing.  It has been a good experience for her to participate in the hiring process.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo have a couple more weeks of the most recent performance.  Elh-Bo is gearing up for her upcoming trade show of sorts.  She is really excited to share the results of her talents.

Puddin and Lady Hawkins are hot and heavy into another semester of school.  They are grateful for the opportunities to improve and prove themselves.  The work schedules are a little crazy, but they are making it.

Songbird is counting down the days to a milestone of her own.  It was fun to sit with her, catch up and hear her laugh.  The stress levels come and go, but she is making it.

And that was our week.  I just sit back and observe it all from the sidelines.

Love you all!
