Even With the Trivial
Heyo -
Virtual fist bump to all.
How has your week been? Anything exciting happen this week? What talents have you developed?
My week has been kind of crazy. It just keep getting crazier. There is so much to keep up on and so much to catch up on that I sometimes feel like I am treading water and not being carried by the current. I am sure that all of us have felt that way in some ways this week.
When it comes to pondering. I have so much to ponder this week, but I will try to keep it focused on just a few. Alma 34:39
"Yea, and I also exhort you, my brethren, that ye be watchful unto prayer continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing."
What timely advice in the hustle, bustle, and worry of today. There is so much to give into, so much the adversary would like us to become overwhelmed with. Yet, as we read this verse we are promised that we will not be overpowered with the wiles of the temptations.
The question then becomes: how are our prayers? Is this what we think of first? Are we seeking the counsel of our Heavenly Father with true intent? With the intent of following the council he gives?
As I said, my week has been a little overwhelming. I have had individuals approach with very specific concerns, requests, and even sometimes demands. There have been times that I have just wanted to raise my hands in frustration and shout, "Seriously", but I have done my best to refrain.
One such request this week, was super trivial to me. I tried to explain as kindly as I could that this request was really an over reaction and that they just need to relax. They were not having it and felt that they deserved some response, and now. I told them I would take care of it.
Note that I do work from home most of the time, so it was a little eye opening to go out and face the crowds, the panic, and almost hysteria that was taking place. But I was determined to solve this issue to prove a point, even a simple one. By the end of the evening, I was still struggling to resolve this issue. It kept me up late into the night.
Before retiring for the night, I found myself deep in prayer. I was trying to explain to my Heavenly Father how silly this request was and how frustrated I was that I could not resolve it on my own. As I reflect upon this experience, I wonder if my Heavenly Father shakes his head like I was doing, when his children come to him with what seems to be such a trivial request.
Some where in the wee hours of the morning, I distinctly heard my name. It was loud and clear. I woke expecting to find someone in the room or house, but it was silent. After a few minutes of intense listening, I started to drift off to sleep. Right before I did so, I had the strong impression of what I should to to resolve my issue. I set an alarm and followed through early the next morning. Within just a few minutes, I had found solution and resolve to what had troubled me for hours the night before. I wish I had started with prayer.
Temptations come in many forms. I add my invitation to that of Amulek. Make time. Pray deeply. Act boldly.
Our week -
The Queen spent the week trying to fall back into a routine. The early hours are not mixing well with the later nights. She has a bit of adjustment still to go.
The Professor spent the week preparing for and carrying out PTC. She was grateful that she was able to have an open and honest discussion with her class before releasing them of Thursday. Now it is on to a new challenge and method of delivering instruction for learning.
We have had the wonderful opportunity to spend a bit of time with Lego this week. He is so dang cute, it is hard to get anything else done while he is around. Tall Man has had a wrench through into his schedule and is adjusting as best he can. I am sure that many of you are experiencing the same.
Puddin and Lady Hawkins made it home safely and are like wise learning to use the wrench they have been handed. There are lots of unknowns, but we take them one at a time.
SnackPack was told he need to join the sequestering starting on Monday. We will see where he does it from.
For me, it will be nice to have bodies in the house while I work.
Love you all. Be wise. Be safe. Do the scrub a dub boogie with a smile and a twist.
Virtual fist bump to all.
