In Whatsoever Place Ye May Be In...
My question is:
What is the proper way to wash your hands? Just kidding, I know it is a hot topic right now. I believe it is a little extreme, but it is what it is.
Second question:
How often do you touch your face? Are you paying attention? I know I touch my glass eye all the time, it itches, it gets dry, so I rub it. But I have also paid close attention to how many times I touch my face. I think we all do it more than we think. I challenge you to go more than one hour with out touching your face, even in your sleep. It is not easy.
Now to the more serious topic of the week: Pondering.
Alma 34:38 - There is so much here in this one little verse.
"That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye my be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you."
What thoughts came to your mind as you read this? How many things are we asked or reminded to do here by Amulek?
1 - "...contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it..." What does it mean to contend against the Holy Ghost? What does it mean to receive the Holy Ghost? Can we do one and not the other? I was reading an article by Elder Bednar this week that focused on a verse of scripture from 3 Nephi 9:20. Here Mormon talks about how the Lord had baptized the faithful Lamanites at the time of their conversion, and they knew it not. How often does the Lord pour the spirit out upon us, inspire us, motivate us, give us a thought of something we should do, and we brush it off? How often do we spend time trying to convince ourselves that we should not do something that we were inspired to do? Isn't this contending against the Holy Ghost? Can we all do better?
2 - "...humble yourselves...worship God...in spirit and truth..." How easy is it to be humble? How easy is it to be humbled? Which would you rather experience? Are we making time for God in our lives each and every day? Are we making enough time? What message are we sending to him when we don't?
3 - "...live in thanksgiving daily..." Here is another powerful challenge, Gratitude. What has the Lord blessed you with? How have we shown our gratitude? How do we show gratitude? What could we improve upon?
These are just a few of the thoughts I have had this week. I am so very grateful for those moments of communion with the Holy Ghost. I am grateful for how often they take place. I testify that they come most often when I am making time for God in my life. They come in all shapes and sizes. They do not always pertain to spiritual matter, but also temporal. God knows us. He wants to be a part of our lives. Do we want him to be a part of his?
Our week -
The Queen jetted off for another week of instruction early Sunday afternoon. I was up at the crack of dawn and did the same. I was not gone as long as she was, but it was good to be instructed. Things got crazy mid week and most of my meetings abroad were cancelled. I counted it as a blessing in my life. I was able to do other things. My eyes were open to more that I needed to do.
The Professor battled a head cold all week long, but she was a trooper and soldiered through.
We haven't heard from Tall Man, Ehl-Bo, or Lego this week. We did see a fun post documenting Lego's growth and development. Did Tall Man have break like Lady Hawkins?
Puddin put in long hours this week. Lady Hawkins has been enjoying her Spring Break. They both jetted off to Cali on Saturday, spent the night and divided to conquer. They had so much fun that they did it again last night, but will spend a little more time together.
SnackPack is ready for some change. Most of the time he makes it happen. Work has been more productive this month. He continues to develop new skills and talents. Spring has arrived as he is building bonfires again.
It has been a good week. Hope yours has been as well.
