Modern Solutions
I am putting a disclaimer out there up front, not that I need a disclaimer to my poor grammar, but today I think I have one. I am medicated. You know how I have been talking about not being able to focus? Well, this stuff is not helping.
The other night we to a neighborhood gathering. I think I talked about that. One of the guys there hobbled into the gathering. He had been playing basketball with some high school students and messed up his leg pretty bad. It was all swollen, tight, and in the early stages of being more black than blue. He talked about it all night long. We were one of the first ones there, so we heard the story several times through out the evening as another couple joined the gathering.
What I thought was interesting was the fact that everyone seemed to have their own solution for helping him heal. Some thought it should be wrapped, some thought he should seek medical attention, some thought he needed to alternate between heat and cold...etc. The list went on and on. In the end he just babied it.
It also opened the conversation up to all the incredible accidents we had experiences in our own lives and the lives of others. We heard some pretty interesting stories. Though they were all different in settings, the results were the same. Everyone, blew it off and said they would be fine. They just needed to baby it a little. Well, except for the women in the group. Either they did not blow it off or they did not talk about the experiences they had.
Why?
I don't know. Several years ago, I had an experience that it good for telling grandchildren. I have probably told the story over and over again. Every once in a while, my children bring it up and ask for clarification. I experienced vertigo, lost movement in my limbs, and was flown across the Salt Lake Valley. In the end, it was just an experience. No one could explain it. It just happens.
This morning, I had a similar experience. Except I did not want to do anything about it. The last time, it just went a way. I determined that if I relaxed and closed my eyes, it would go away. Then the Queen stated looking things up on the Internet. Every recommendation was to seek medical attention. We gave in around 9:30 and started moving towards the medical attention. Many of my symptoms had subsided, but I was still not 100%.
What did I learn? Nothing. I seemed to be OK. I was given some medication to help the symptoms, but that is about it. The medication was to help vertigo symptoms. I was to take one every 4 to 6 ours. They knocked me out. I slept through church and some. The doctor told me that if I was still experiencing symptoms in a couple of hours I should go to a hospital. OK, some 6 hours later, I can barely keep my eyes open and have no idea what symptoms I am experiencing. This is the modern solution. Take the pills, experience the effects that are very similar the symptoms you were experiencing but buffered, and then go see about other medical attention if you are still feeling them. My head is spinning just thinking about it.
I think I will just baby it in the future.
