What he desired....Really?

I was reading in Alma 19:6, the first phrase caught my attention.  "Now, this was what Ammon desired..."  really?  Sometimes the readers digest of what really happened is misleading.  Do you really think things were going as Ammon envisioned them?

Let's see what did or do you envision your mission to be?
The minute he walks into his first area he is arrested and thrown into prison.  I am sure the meal plan there was very similar to the MTC, right?  After a period of time, he is bound and brought before the King/Magistrate.  He is assigned service hours as part of his bail/penalty.  We all have service hours, but do you really think this is what he envisioned?  When does he get to teach?

After three days of chain gang service hours in the fields and stables, he is attacked by a bunch of hooligans who would rather see him dead than serve.  He mans up, kills 7, and disarms several others.  Yep, that is what missionary work is all about.

He gets back to the palace and finds himself working alone.  No one wants to be around him.  When he goes into the Palace, everyone is staring at him like his is leper.  When he approaches the King, he recognizes the tension and turns to leave.  They won't let him.  So, what would be going through your mind?  "I just killed 7 locals and disarmed several others.  They were going to kill me for letting the flocks get scattered, what do they do to alien residents who kill people?"  How many questions can you come up within a 2 hour period?

As it turns out, what appears to be a bad door approach turns out to be a Golden Investigator.  For the next period of time, Ammon has a captive audience.  Or was it a captive teaching experience?  He is followed around by this Golden Investigator and all his body guards and servants.  He seems to be making great progress towards conversion when he suddenly drops to the ground and appears to be dead one of the first times he prays by himself.  Great, that is incentive to everyone to want to volunteer for offering the prayer in Sacrament Meeting.

Now, the Queen is asking for him. Yep, just as he desired!

Well, that is kind of how things are going right now with Puddin.  We continue to wait, but nothing seems to be going as we would have envisioned it.  We continue to hold out that just like Ammon, the Lord knows what He is doing and it will all work out.  According to the Bishop, we are still "in process" as of today.  Patience...

Now you know how the week is going.

The Queen and I both returned to work.  She is going a little crazy waiting for the status on the call to change from "in process" to "assigned".  It has been 3 weeks now.  Those who submitted later than he did are getting results.  She wants to know now.  We have holidays to plan.  With Grams and Gramps enter the MTC on the 23rd of September, she would like to know how many to plan on for Thanksgiving and Christmas?

On a better note, the Professor came home from a meeting on Tuesday with permission to do a "Living Ordinance" in the house of the Lord.  We are excited.  She is getting her gift on the same calendar day she was dunked and made a member of the club.  We were hoping that Puddin would make it, but it does not look like it will happen.  That is OK, we will celebrate with him when it happens.

Tall Man has does his best to make adjustments this week.  It is really messing with his normal patterns.  As an observer looking in from the outside, I know it is challenging, but we have seen the improvements it is having on  him.  I think he does to.  We will continue to endure the tweaking.  When he is not at work or sleeping, he has filled his time with service.  Last Sunday, he invited the local Elders over to teach them  It was an impressive lesson.  I hope we will be able to apply it and any more lessons he has to share.

Puddin has spent his week in limbo.  He knows that he has to start looking for employment, but does not want to.  He just wants to start working in the field.  Since that is not going as planned, he has started pounding the pavement and applying where ever he can.  His second job is not panning out the way he thought it would.  He needs something more consistent and time filling.

SnackPack went back to the Pirate Ship.  He comes home each day from a new adventure.  The load is quiet burdensome, but he seems to be handling it well.  We will see what happens next week, when his starts swabbing the decks at 5 or 530 in the morning.  There have been a couple days towards the end of the week that it took all his power to remain alert, attentive, and awake.

So there is our update.

Another shout out to our Idaho Spud (aka side kick), are you getting these updates now?  I am so sorry that I have been sending them to the wrong person for the past couple of months.  We have not forgotten about you.  Keep your updates coming.

To our Cat in the Eastern Isles, what congregation are you assisting?  I have some friends from way back when who were just assigned a three year tour on the Eastern Isle.  I am wondering if you might cross paths.

Have a great week everyone.  No editing again this week, so you will have live with typos and grammar nightmares.
