Conference Thoughts Sat Morning

Well, we have enjoyed another Saturday morning session of conference. I really enjoyed sitting and listening to those who were called to share their testimonies and instructions. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did. Let me share a few of my thoughts and impressions as I sat through conference this morning.

Robert D. Hales- I missed this one. I shouldn't have started talking to the McAfee people before the session started.

Sister Margaret S. Liffeth -
She talked about reverence. I was really impressed. I have always tried to address people by their title. I have also tried to always address them as Brother or Sister. Over the years, even those in our ward and stake have tried to play that down. This talk only gave me more incentive and desire to address others with reverence and respect.

I really enjoyed her comments. We should do our best to become participants of the meetings we attend not just warm bodies filling the pews or chairs. We need to work on reverence as a ward. It should start in the family. I encourage each of you to start participating not looking for other things to distract yourselves from the meeting.

Michael A. Neider -
Brother Neider was released in the second session, but he remarks were note worthy none the less.

We should be earnest students. We should practice virtue in all that we do.

Brother Neider then started talking about quorums and organizations. The quorum and group is organized to help us increase our faith in Christ. We are to learn and teach the fundamentals within these groups. We should know the members of our quorums, whether we are president or not. The question that hit me is if our quorums and organizations are operating as Christ intended them to. We can find more about what his intentions were in D&C and Church Handbook of Instruction.

Allen A. Packer -
We must become comfortable with and know the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

He quoted Joseph Smith who talked about his experience in learning to communicate with the Spirit and receive revelation. I don't have the entire quote, but will summarize. We need to pay attention to all the thoughts and ideas related to those things that we pray about. Recognize when they come, how they came, and then discern which ones are the Spirit by the fruits of acting upon those thoughts and impressions.

D. Todd Christofferson -

We need to become strong Christians who live in hope and make things happen regardless of the challenges and adversity we face in life.

We are to be a community of saints.

We move forward in faith regardless of the sacrifices we are asked to make or endure.

Henry B. Eyring -

Blessings come as we dedicate ourselves to righteousness.
