Scripture Thought 4/13/2009
1 Nephi 3:12
Laman desired the plates from Laban. What does that mean? We know how much Laman believes in this father, in his father's dreams, and how he did not really want to be in the mission, yet here he is desiring the plates from Laban. Did he put his whole heart and soul into it? Did he ask, plead, or beg for the plates? It makes me wonder how he presented his case. I try to imagine what his reasoning was with Laban.
Did he just say, hey, I was wondering if you might give us the brass plates? Why, well, my father, asked me to ask you. Why does he want them? I don't know. He is crazy. He said he had this dream or vision and that I was supposed to come and get them from you.
Then in this verse, we read that Laban gets angry and casts him out. What did Laman say that made him angry? How would you have presented the case? Where is your desire? Do you believe?
How important are things you are reading about, learning about, and studying to you? How much effort are you putting into them to make them important to you? Think about it.
