Follow Up
The other day, I received this email from my supervisor. It was exactly as the one you received or was posted on the blog. The question has been asked, what does it refer too? So here it is. An old hippie, long since gone. Here are the words to his song. Read them carefully.
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Where have we heard of or dreamed of a world like this? Though I don't agree with the lyrics of this song, I do dream of such a place. This place came to mind again this morning as I was listening to the conference talk given by Elder Christofferson in October of 2008. The title was "Come unto Zion"
Listen to or read the talk again. What have you done to make this place a reality? Are we living is such a place that would be worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven? What is stopping us?
The suggestion is to start with family. Are we living as one? Have we rid ourselves of struggle, strife, murmuring, and more? How do we get there? Are you willing to make the move? As the world becomes more and more scary, I dream of this place more. The more I feel we should be making this place a reality. Think about it.
