With Us NOT At Us

I know it is late, but I am going to jump in and share. It has been another full week, work, school, construction, and more. We just keep moving. The time has gone by quickly. We are not a over a full week of basement construction. There were a couple of days this week that we only saw the crew for a few minutes, measuring and dropping off drywall.

On Friday, the Queen was very glad that we moved her upstairs. The drywall crew came in toting boom boxes that had origins in the deep south, south of the border. She had to close the doors so the customers would not hear the music blasting from Latin America. I would have loved it, but she was not so happy.

Anyway, the Queen has started spending her leisure time searching KSL for special deals on furniture. Last night she found some wonderfully inexpensive items that she wanted me to call on. One was around table with four chairs and the other was a corner entertainment center. We arranged to see the table after 12 noon on Saturday. Before we even wasted our time, we called on the entertainment center and asked them to measure it. The guy told me it was 60" tall and about 31" deep. That was great. We needed one that was less than 32" deep.

We woke up Saturday morning and proceeded to do all the normal weekend chores. Around 1 we piled in to the car and headed north. The table was a no brainier. It will fit in the house perfectly. We called for the entertainment center, but they were at a funeral. They told us they would not be able to meet us until later. Ok, we drove all the way to Ogden and visited with the family for a while before we headed south, with a truck, again.

We arrived at the house for the entertainment center about the same time they did. It was a little taller than I imagined, but it looked good. It was in good condition and would match the table beautifully. They had to remove all the blankets, pillows, DVD players, games, movies, and the TV before we could take it with us. Their neighbor dropped by to help us remove it. We had to take the sliding glass door off its track to get it out of the house. It was crazy. We ended up rearranging their little family room just to remove it.

We loaded it up, picked up the table and headed home. It was great. HOWEVER, I kept thinking about how tall it was. He said it was 65". I started doing math in my head. I am almost 6'. 6 times 12 is 72, therefore 65" should be shorter than me not taller. This was much taller. After we unloaded it, I started worrying about the other measurements. This thing is 80" tall. Whoa, 15" more than he said it was. I decided to measure the depth. Cool, he did not miss read the tape measure incorrectly when he measured the back panel. It was exactly 32" long. The only bummer is that he did not take into consideration the 9" of open space where the back corner was cut off.

OK have you done the math? Yep, 41". There is no way it will fit in the spot we had for it. It is ok, laugh. We have been laughing all night. We are going to post it on KSL Monday morning. If you know anyone who would like one let us know. It will fit a 36" TV. Glass cupboard above and large cupboards below. We are thinking about $100 OBO. I will have to add photos.

We keep looking.
