Building

I am sorry that I did not make an entry yesterday, this whole not having access to a computer all the time is not fun. We are going to have to make a decision soon about whether we are going to get a new one or not. I will do better once we get the old one back or a new one. I have been doing my daily entry from work.

Any way I would like to talk about that analogy I heard today. It is not mine, but it good. A brother shared it with us in sacrament meeting today. He talked of a very rich construction worker. He built houses for people all over the country. His work was well known. Over the years he had also hired several men and watched several move on to other careers. However there was one worker who was always there. Over the years he became his right hand man.

One day, the owner of the company called in this employee and told him that he had decided to build his own house. He had been talking with several designer, looking at several lots, and now wanted to opinion of this dedicated worker. They sat down together and discussed it. After a time, they finally agreed upon a plan. The owner, thanked the worker, handed him the blueprints and told him to go and build it. He told him that he wanted this worker to use all the best materials. He did not want any expenses spared.

The worker took the plans and started working. However, as he build the house, he started looking and the prices of materials and supplies and figured he could do the same job with less expensive stuff. He would cut a corner here and there. By looking at the house you would never know the difference. When he was finished with the exterior, he started on the interior and did the same thing.

After several months of working, he contacted the owner and told him his house was complete. The owner of the company came to do a final inspections. He was amazed at all that had been done. The house looked fantastic. He thanked the worker and then handed him the keys. He told him that it was his reward for all the years of service he had loyally rendered.

We are doing the same in this life. We are building our own eternal mansions. Don't cut the corner. What you build here will be what you have to live with in the life hereafter.
