Integrity

Things have been a stir the last few days in our office the last few weeks. It has been interesting. As you know we had elections for agent council a while back. Well, it is the new year so the new council is taking over. We have our first meeting on Friday.

The stir is all about who will be voted in as our next executive member. This person is basically the president of the council. They would be required to represent our office once a month in a meeting in Houston. As everyone is doing some preliminary polls, it appears that the council is divided. We have three members who have served for the past two years and four new members who have served previously, but have recently been re-elected. Three feel that the executive should remain the same, three feel it should be some one new and one is undecided. That person does not want to be the deciding vote because they feel it will completely pit the members against each other. Rumor has it that this person is going to vote for themselves and then it will be have to be decided by a coin toss.

Anyway, now that you have all the gossip, it has all come down to the individuals personal integrity. Many, not just the council are concerned about how the new executive will work with the rest of the leadership group. There is also concern about how they will deal with the members of the council.

My question is why would these questions even come up? What have these individuals done in the past that would cause others to question their integrity? I start questioning my own. Have I done anything that would cause concern? We all need to make sure that we are always doing that which is respectable, honest, true, or virtuous. I know that it is often frustrating to think that other people are watching or that what we do affects other people, but they do and our actions will always affect others no matter how secluded we think we are. Be people of integrity.
