Give Me

I sat in a meeting today that just drove me crazy. We were talking about recent changes that have been made in our work environment. One of the recent changes had been made to our insurance program.

With this change there has been a great deal of talk about things we are not lacking and things that have been changed. It appears that several doctors and facilities have been dropped from the program. We are working with them and doing our best to get changes made. As we were discussing it, one agent piped up and said, "Since we are making changes how about if get immediate benefits when going out for surgery." We all turned and looked at this agent with the look of "What?"

Within our companies policy we are able to earn sick hours and vacation for each month we work. We have long term disability and health insurance. If push comes to shove, we also have a catastrophic fund that is not generally used. However, most of the insurance programs do not pay out until you have been out of work for 30 to 60 days. This agent wanted the benefits the day they left work. Again we all looked at the agent with the same expression. What do you think sick time, vacation, and catastrophic hours are for. They just wanted more for free.

As the discussion continued, we started talking about some changes in our travel privileges. Siblings have been added to the pot. Since we are adding, agents want in laws, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews added, or better yet, let us choose who and how many people are on our benefits. It drives me crazy.

In the world we live in, how can people expect more for less. We should all be willing to do our part and earn the things we get. When we are blessed by the Lord, do we get upset because he did not give us more? Shouldn't we be grateful for what we have? How many of us don't even acknowledge the blessings we are given? I think we all fall in this boat some where. Our lives are not full of Give me's but should be filled with Giving. Think about it.
