Life
I am always amazed at how life just sneaks up on us and gives us a surprise every once in a while. When this happens we always seem to look for a blame, we get frustrated, and then start dwelling on the whys, what if, and whoa is me's. I started wondering whether we should.
I don't know if you have realized it or not, but material things don't last for ever. Yesterday, I came home to find that ever boy in my house had purchased new shoes. They have all been whining about it for days. From my perspective, I was thinking, what the heck are you doing to your shoes to wear them out. From theirs, they just wanted something to protect their feet and keep them warm and dry.
I had to take a few minute and reflect. I am grateful to have a job that allows me to provide this protection for their feet. I am grateful for a loving wife who took the time out of her life to make sure they were cared for. It is just stuff. Did the shoes they have serve a purpose? Yes. I should be grateful for the purpose they served and move on. It is not always convenient, but that is just part of life. Could they take better care of them? Probably, but that will come with time and them learning to value what the have.
Cars break down, computers crash, freezers stop freezing, disposals short out, and life keeps going. The question is how we react to it. Do we figure out how, sacrifice a few things and keep moving forward, or do we just get stuck in the previously mentioned modes?
