Today

I had the opportunity to drive a little yesterday. It was fun. It was a beautiful day, the roads were nice, and I enjoyed the company. While driving several billboards caught my eye.

"We have too many Mikes"

"We are hiring guys named Doug"

"We need more Kates"

As we read them out loud it was interesting to hear different reactions from each person in the car. Some wanted to change their names, some felt that it was unfair to make judgement calls like hiring people based on just their names. Others tried to look at it from the Mike's perspective. I found it interesting how much each person interpreted the signs.

While I was thinking about that, we came upon another billboard.

"Today I choose to be..."

Just like the previous three, each person's interpretation was different. I thought about the statement off and on all evening. It is such a true statement. We all have the right and agency to choose. We just have to understand that what ever we choose, has consequences. Once we choose a certain path, behavior, attitude, or choose to react a certain way to the events of life, we must also be willing to accept the outcome of that choice. The glorious thing about it all is that if we don't like the outcome, we can always choose differently tomorrow or even the minute we start disliking the outcome.

Because of the choices we make, sometimes we see results right away some times we done. The idea is to keep making the choices that will give us the results we are looking for. What do you choose to be today?
