Scripture Thought 3/25/2009
1 Nephi 3:8
Lehi was exceedingly glad. What does it mean to be glad? What makes one glad? The dictionary says
GLAD 1:Happy 2:Causing Joy 3:Very Willing 4:Bright.
It is a wide spectrum of feelings and emotions. I like the last definition. Lehi was exceedingly BRIGHT. The words of Nephi filled him with the Light of Christ, so much so that he glowed with gladness. The light was overflowing from him. Is that what JOY/HAPPY/GLAD/WILLINGNESS is? Are we Bright with the Light of Christ? Do we overflow or radiate his truth and light? Reading it this way brings new meaning to the verse.
He KNEW that Nephi had been blessed of the Lord. How did he know? Was the light of Christ shouting out testimony and then the Holy Ghost confirming the truth. When people talk to you, associate with you, or hear your testimony, do they know that you have been blessed?
What can we do to make this light brighter. What can we do to radiate gladness in all that we do? I think it has a great deal to do with our attitude. Not only towards the Lord, but in all things that we do. We need to be that light in the crowds we hang with. We cannot hide our candles, our happiness, our joy, our willingness, or our gladness. We need to let it shine. I also believe that if we do, others with catch it. It is contagious. Spread the disease.
